I don't think the Bobcats will win more than 20-25 games this year, but their offense should look a lot better. It almost has to. But they do have legitimate double figures scoring threats in three or four players. And the new coach should run a better offensive system than the organized chaos Silas ran last year. I like MKG a lot, but I don't think he'll be scoring a lot of pts. His value is the all-around game. Both Henderson and Mullens have the potential to average 15+ efficient pts. If Mullens is used correctly (and can play better defense than the awful defense he played last year), he can be a very effective scorer. And judging by the close in shots he took in the summer league, he's learning that they are better shots for the team than 20 fters.

I think Lillard will have the highest scoring average, which will get him the award.

Davis and MKG will eventually be more complete players, but they were some of the youngest players in the draft and are just not as polished as Lillard. Lillards shooting/handling will instantly translate to the NBA in a way that Davis/MKG's raw athleticism wont.

Also, LOL at the homer saying MKG will average as many assists as Lillard.

Damian Lillard

Motiejunas will be in a race if he manages to break in into starting PF for Rockets.

Jonas will have a chance to win the "ROTFoulout" in his first season, not the ROTY

MKG is a smart player. I don't see him jacking up shots. What I do see is someone who will get to the rim like a Stuckey or Tyreke, get tons of FTA, but won't shoot a ton of ill-advised long 2-pt jumpers.

I would be surprised if Davis were to win ROY. Given the position that he plays and his current body-weight, it could take him a couple of years to body-up NBA guys. Davis looks skinnier than Greg Monroe who is starting to come into is own now.

I would put Lillard as front-runner to win Roy, he has the easiest path to win if they give him the keys.

I'd say the front-runners to actually win the award are MKG and Lillard. Both will be much higher on the totem poles of their own teams, and have a big FGA advantage. Davis will have to average a double-double and 2.5 blocks in order to be in competition, and I doubt that he does that. He will need 2-3 years to adjust to the pro game.

For reference, 4 times out of the last decade the RoY averaged over 20 points per game (Carmelo also averaged 20 as a rookie, but lost to Lebron, who also averaged 20). Given that Lillard only has to share with Alridge and Batum, he should average somewhere in range of 17-22. MKG is going to be the star on his team from day 1, and probably will get just as many FGAs as Lillard, though likely he will not make as many shots.

Davis has to deal with Gordon, Anderson, and even fellow rookie Rivers, all of which will take a large number of shots. I think he will have to be extremely efficient, great on defense, and still get enough FGAs and RBDs to rack up stats in order to compete for the award.

He was already the favorite, but spending a month with the best players in the NBA (including Tyson Chandler, the player he's usually compared to) will do him wonders his first year. I'm sure they all gave him pointers on adjusting to NBA life and an NBA season.

I think this is reallygood point. Even though he didn't play a ton in the olympics his month with team USA should give him a little bit of a headstart in getting use to the NBA. Even in the olympics where he was always at a strength disadvantage and was playing only when the game was out of reach he was still doing a fairly impressive job.

Davis has a lot of the hype going into the season so he's going to get a ton of votes unless he's completely underwhelming (which I doubt will happen).

Lillard is going to put up some solid numbers as long as he works well with Aldridge, but I don't think he's going to score as much as some of you think. Only one of the recent top PG selections has score more than 16 a game, so he'd be in some pretty great company just to get around that number.

I don't think MKG is the type of player who looks good in a ROY contest. His all-around production will probably fall in the 12-13 point, 6-7 rebound, 2-3 assist range. That's pretty awesome, IMO, for the youngest player in the league, but not gaudy enough to earn him enough votes to win. Being on one of the worst teams in the league again won't help the cause either.

The guy I think might sneak into the discussion is Jeremy Lamb. If Kevin Martin gets traded, then he's going to have the green light and he could post some sexy scoring numbers.

Early Guess:

1a Davis
1b Lillard
3 MKG
