That 92-93 Mavs squad was awful......there were only a handful of players who played more than a couple of years in the league (Harper, Jackson, Rooks, Davis, Legler).

Gana is 3rd on the team making 7.4M this season, behind Thomas (8.0M/8.7M/9.4M) and Ben Gordon (12.4M/$13.2M). Our rotation players all make 5M or less (except Gordon).amcoolio wrote:LOL at Gana's statline. I think he makes the most out of all our bigs.
Don't expect anything from Biyombo until 2014-2015. Unlike other Euro busts Biyombo has had some solid games but is wildly inconsistent and has been playing with terrible teammates.
I would honestly rather see him get minutes over Thomas. At least Gana tries to not suck. He just naturally does. Also he can do thisLeft Side Drive wrote:Should run their offense through Diop he seems like the best option of the bunch.

I remember watching Tyrus on the Bulls in that overtime game against the Celtics thinking he was going to be a future star.

as awful as that mavs team was, 4 of their top 6 scorers were from their frontcourt - sean rooks, terry davis, doug smith and randy white. terry davis averaged a respectable 12.7 and 9.3, while rooks also averaged a respectable 13.5 and 7.4. both shot over 45%. that being said, only rooks has a near average PER and other advanced stats are pretty awful. its close.

this is a smart man.
If you don't count Kukoc as a Pf, then I think that Chicago lineup might be worse.
Mario Bennett, Mark Bryant, Dickey Simpkons, Bill Wennington and Andrew Lang.

That boy Mullens got game. Once he learns to take better shots he is basically Okur 2.0.

Re: Worst Frontcourt Since ABA Merger? Current Bobcats?
I like Mullens if he takes time to develop a post game to go with his ability to stretch the floor he's a keeper....maybe not a full time starter but he has a role in this league as a rotation player. Biz i love his potential but he has been handicapped by a lockout shortened training camp, he had to wait while his contract/buyout was negotiated at first, being part of an awful team with no real vets to teach him and a coach last year that wasnt really a teacher but more of a babysitter in addition to him being raw as hell.....on any good team he should've basically spent almost the entire year in the D-league, I still think he can be a player but thats 3 or 4 yrs down the road.
Other than that yeah our frontcourt is pretty much trash....but it always has been. Sean May was supposed to be our guy to hold the frontcourt down for years and that never panned out. Okafor is the best front court player we've ever had (Chandler wasnt here long enough and didnt do much while he was here) and he(Okafor) looks like he's barely a solid rotation player at times now.....damn

Re: Worst Frontcourt Since ABA Merger? Current Bobcats?
We've never had a very good big man. Okafor peaked as a rookie. Chandler was injured/crap when he was here, Sean May and Ajinca were complete busts. When Okafor, Diaw, Brezec, Nazr, and Mullens come to mind as your best bigs in franchise history, you know the frontcourt has never been strong. It's trash now and always has been.misterglover wrote:I like Mullens if he takes time to develop a post game to go with his ability to stretch the floor he's a keeper....maybe not a full time starter but he has a role in this league as a rotation player. You hit the nail on the head with Bismack. He wasn't even expected to be a factor at all. Anything he gives us at this point is gravy. Nobody who knew what they were talking about expected him to be an impact player right away.
I love Mullens' potential a lot. Heck, he's been one of our most important players this year. He's out for a few more weeks with his ankle injury and the team has been much worse without him, because no matter whether he's automatic or bricking each of his threes, defenses flock to him, leaving more room for MKG and Kemba to play their games. MKG's game has suffered a ton with Mullens out.Jazzball wrote:That boy Mullens got game. Once he learns to take better shots he is basically Okur 2.0.
But yeah, Mullens does need to reign himself in a lot. There have been way too many 4-15 shooting nights because he takes way too many threes and doesn't quite have the range yet. He was a superb midrange shooter with any kind of space last season. His shot selection is quite a bit worse than Josh Smith's, but he's a better shooter without question. He just needs to figure out his limits.

Two random ideas:
1995-96 Cleveland Cavaliers
Michael Cage 6.0ppg, 8.9rpg, 34 years old.
Tyrone Hill 7.8pgg, 5.5rpg, played only 44 games.
Danny Ferry: 13.3ppg, 3.8rpg.
Two scrubs in John Ameachi and Joe Courtney who rarely played.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/teams/CLE/1996.html
It's not that these guys are bad, but rather the lack of big guys. I mean, god, they won 47 games with an old Michael Cage and Danny Ferry being their only two bigs for half of the season. It amazes me that that stiff Ferry even averaged 13 points for a playoff team.
1994-95 Los Angeles Clippers
Loy Vaught 17.5ppg, 9.7rpg - only competent big on the team.
Tony Massenburg 9.3rpg, 5.7rpg - the ultimate journey man.
Bo Outlaw 5.2ppg, 3.9rpg - a sophomore Bo Outlaw, not good enough yet.
Michael Smith 5.3ppg, 1.9rpg, 29 games - the LAC announcer, guy who Boston foolishly took in the draft.
Matt Fish 4.7ppg, 3.2rpg, 26 games - WHO???
Bob Martin 2.0ppg, 2.0rpg, 1 game - WHO???
Eric Riley 4.4ppg, 2.8rpg, 40 games - wouldn't know him, if he wasn't on the Fab Five team.
Elmore Spencer 6.9ppg, 3.4rpg, 19 games - Who???

Miami I believe was starting Jamal Magloire, and Udonis Haslem for a long time during the 08-09 season.

i knew i could count on you for some good ones a lamar. that clippers team outside of vaught was just god awful. wow. that being said, vaught is lightyears better than any big on the cats right now. what is worse, 1 solid big and 5 awful ones or 6 below average to bad ones?

there is no shame in haslem. he has been a solid big for most his career. lots of teams would have enjoyed having him as part of a rotation 3-4 years ago. as a starter its a bit rough though.
that team also had beasly and marion who could slide to the 4 for long periods and a half of a season for jermaine oneal. they are nowhere close to worse frontcourt ever.
current bobcats would kill for 08-09 haslem.
cats frontcourt actually didnt crap their pants tonight. warrick with 15 and 5, haywood with 8 and 7 and adrien with 9 and 5. their best collective outing in a long long time.

Re: Worst Frontcourt Since ABA Merger? Current Bobcats?
I think it's the worst with or without Mullens, because I'm not remotely convinced that he makes Charlotte a better team. It's nice, I guess, to have another miserable option to turn to in case the other miserable options are playing miserably, but the evidence suggests that he is a negative on both ends of the court for even a team as bad as the 'Cats.
Net PER at power forward: -6.4
Net PER at center: -24.7
Points per 100 possessions: -3.1
Opponent points per 100 possessions: +6.7
Net points per 100 possessions: -9.8
Offensive Rating on court: 101.2
ORtg off court: 103.3
Defensive Rating on court: 115.5
DRtg off court: 108.5
Charlotte's overall record is slightly better with him than without (7-20 vs. 3-9), but that includes a couple of wins against the Wizards early in the season and a gift-wrapped one by the refs against Toronto.

I don't know... If I had to choose from one of them, I'd stay with our guys just because there's some potential in Biz and Mullens. But if these teams actually had to go all out and win as much games as possible, Loy Vaught is probably too good to pass up (lol, talking about him like he's an allstar or something). A young Bo Outlaw and Massenburg are probably as good as Warrick, Haywood and the rest of our guys.

I used to have a sig that said "Biyombo, the seventh overall pick in the draft, played with emotion and battled toe-to-toe with Dwight Howard and had 10 points and a career-high 15 rebounds. He also blocked seven shots.", however, I felt like getting Gana in the all-star game is something more important at this point, so I switched it up.
Not the guy you are looking for, but go ahead and tell me how bad Biz is.

How about Bargnani and Aaron Gray last year for the Raps. Bargs had a good PER but his historicly bad defence makes up for it. And Gray started at centre......nuf said.
Dick expectation level 0/5
