There are reports that families from the Newtown massacre were attending the marathon as VIPs, and were standing right near the finish line next to the explosion.

They say none of them were injured so far, but damn, how much tragedy do those families have to endure?

"Bombing" is inaccurate is it not? They haven't determined the cause yet AFAIK.

This absolutely disgusts me. What a f***ed up world we live in. It's times like these when I really don't want to live on this planet anymore.

A couple different news sources have reported bombs in trashcans

Being at the finish line of a marathon my wife ran was one of the coolest, most unifying sporting experiences I've ever attended. Everyone in the crowd was cheering each runner across the finish line.

Makes this even more tragic IMO.

You are correct. Though judging from the video, it is safe to assume that these were controlled explosions.

I didn't hear exactly what they said from the other room, but the bomb squad just blew something up for safety purposes. Not sure if it was a bomb or what.

wo blasts near the finish line of the Boston Marathon killed at least three people and injured dozens on Monday, though the scope of the blasts is still unclear.

Witnesses reported hearing a loud explosion near the finish line just before 3 p.m. Video from Skyfox, myFOXBoston, showed a number of emergency crews in the area tending to victims.

Police wove through competitors as they ran back toward the course.

"There are a lot of people down," said one man, whose bib No. 17528 identified him as Frank Deruyter of North Carolina. He was not injured, but marathon workers were carrying one woman, who did not appear to be a runner, to the medical area as blood gushed from her leg. A Boston police officer was wheeled from the course with a leg injury that was bleeding.

There were two booms heard from near the finish line inside the Fairmount Copley Plaza Hotel.

Race officials locked down the hotel because of the report. The loud blasts, which sounded like thunder, had come a short time earlier.

The explosions shattered the euphoria of the Boston Marathon finish line, sending authorities out on the course to carry off the injured while the stragglers in the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton were rerouted away from the smoking site of the blasts. Competitors and race organizers were crying as they fled the chaos. Bloody spectators were being carried to the medical tent that had been set up to care for fatigued runners.

Journalists reported being in lockdown as a chaotic scene unfolded. Video footage showed victims emerging without limbs.

I know some people that are running. My prayers are with everyone.
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing, Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;

Or maybe another false flag incident? :(

I sure hope Obama doesn't put Boston under marshal law, & use this to forcefully start taking away everyone's guns. Cause it will only start another civil war.

Show some respect. Or at least some restraint. The bodies aren't even counted and you've politicized this tragedy.

Such a tragedy just disgusting. I saw that the Pacers were staying at a hotel just over a mile away and they cut their cell phones to prevent anyone from triggering a bomb.
