I like the Gerald Wallace comparison. If he can get to the Wallace level of 15 ppg, 9 rpg, 2-3 apg, 2 bpg, 2 spg.. type stat line he will be awesome and well worth the 2 pick IMO. I feel he WILL get there, just needs another couple seasons. Sure Drummond should have been 2 in hindsight but 7 or 8 other teams passed on him too.

Yeah, Gerald Wallace would be a pretty solid pay-out if he developed that way.

There is hope for MKG's shooting yet:

Can't ask for too much better than Mark Price as your shooting coach. I think MKG has great work ethic and his shot will improve over time. When it does, I can see a Gerald Wallace-like impact.

He bulked up a lot this offseason. Did anyone watch the USA scrimmage? Looks like he's trying to get to Lebron body-wise. His body is so strong and built for being 19 years old.

People on here harp on the negatives, but forget that MKG has decent ball handling and passing skills to the point where he could play point forward later in his career, and a very, very quick, almost elite, first step. I expect he will have a easier time this season on offense with Zeller and Jefferson attracting a lot of attention.

Seeing both over a full season, in a redraft I'd take Drummond at #2, but MKG is still a close #3 IMO and will be a better pro than Lillard 5 years from now.

One main thing about MKG that I think will bode well for him is his attitude and work ethic. He has no ego and he works his ass off. Those are the main things that stop top notch PROSPECTS from becoming stars. Any talented prospect with the right skillset WILL become a great player if they have that work ethic and attitude. Unless of course they get a freak injury which diminishes them or something.

really good role player, missing piece on a contender. Should have been a mid round pick, but will never live up to being the 2nd pick.

I haven't seen much of him play but the way people are describing him sounds like he's destined to be a future Gerald Wallace.

I've seen him in a few games, i love his energy and hustle but his jumpshot is ATROCIOUS i hope he can fix that up though it would really help his game leaps and bounds

He's going to be a stellar player whether he obtains a jump shot or not. Just don't pin your hopes on him being a number one guy of the franchise.

People need to stop overrating shooting BTW. There is so much more to the game than chucking up shots.

I'm still waiting to see year two but yeah, I like MKG's overall value projection compared to Lillard's. DL had a 2011 Rose-like impact on portland's offense because it was such crap apart from him and he's a solid player but is overall not really stunning as a projected player without a major change.

I really hope he can fix his shooting mechanics, because it's the only thing preventing him from becoming great. Can easily become an elite defender with a bunch 1st team all-defense mentions. Also already a pretty great rebounder for his position. Let's not forget that he's only 19 years old and his rookie season didn't necessarily scream bust.

Would look much better if he wasn't the 2nd pick, and wasn't chosen over Drummond, Lillard and Barnes.

If he ever develops any kind of a jump shot he very well could be better than all 3. We will know for certain in 3 years or so, that's how long it may take.

I think Beal could end up being the second best player from that draft behind Davis

He's like Gerald Wallace, an athletic hustler.

I like the Wallace comparison as well, although MKG already has a better handle and floor game. He won't need to play so reckless to contribute on offense if he can find his stroke.

He's got alot of potential could be the next Marion-Wallace hybrid, but I don't see him being as good as the rest of the upcoming SFs, including the ones in the 2014 draft.

He would be a second-tier SF in the league in 3-4 years

The SF position is looking very deep.

Tier 1:
Lebron
Durant
Wiggins (Kobe?)
George (Pippen?)
Parker (Melo?)

Tier 2:
Leonard (Worthy?)
MKG (Marion?)
Gallo
Batum
Harris?

I have no idea why people are so down on a guy who was the youngest player in the NBA who put up per 36 numbers of 12.5/8.1/2.1/1.0/1.2

The Marion comparison obviously makes sense as well as the Gerald Wallace but he reminds me more of Kirilenko to be honest, the guy is a stat stuffer.

He is an awesome defender both on the perimiter and in the post and his help defense is ridiculous.

Shooting is the single most overrated aspect of basketball.
