Dark, Dark, Darkdarkdarkdakrdark Dark horse: Jimmy Butler

Currently averaging 22.5ppg at 48% shooting, 6.5rpg, 2.5apg, 13fta per game, 1.5bpg, 1spg, and NBA 1st team defense.

Obviously there is no guarantee he will play at this level all season, but when Rose comes back, the court will open up even more for him. He won't win MVP, but a 3rd place vote or 2 is not out of the question if he can keep or improve upon these stats along with the amazing defense.

I agree with you but I will say it helps that Curry draws a double team non stop for Klay to get open shots.

Not always, Klay stops and pops on fastbreaks, shoots off screens both as the ball handler and the cutter. I wouldn't be surprised if he can replicate his shooting while sharing the court with another facilitator like Livingston or Iguodola.

But no one else on GSW pulls double teams like curry does. On the fastbreak he would be fine but his numbers would not be as good without curry that is all I a saying.

I'm not sure what KD would have to do, to be an MVP again, considering he's out for 6-8 weeks..
Do we hand the MVP to someone who will only play 60 games or do we give it to guys playing the full season at a high level? If he would put up huge numbers does that get him in the MVP conversation or not? let me put it this way :
60 games played 30ppg 7 assists 7 rebounds vs 82 games 28 ppg 8 assists 6 rebounds or something like that..

If Oklahoma City wins 50 of 60 games Durant is MVP.

I don't think he'd get MVP if OKC isn't a top 4 seed.. Also, that depends on the involvement of Westbrook in those winnings.

On the original question : Has to be Stephen curry to me, He's playing lights out, magnificent bball and just the most entertaining guy there is atm and he has that 'killer mentality' aswell, something I don't see with -for example- Harden or Dwight.

Curry isn't winning MVP with Thompson averaging those numbers and Warriors have to be a 1st or 2nd seed which seems unlikely.

Lol do you really think Clay is going to keep up those numbers? & Curry is still putting up better numbers with 25ppg 7ast 7(!)reb

Curry could win but I doubt it bc I don't think GS is a top 2 seed in the West.

Did anyone mention Marc Gasol? I mean I know people generally ignore Memphis until forced to watch them in the playoffs but he's the reason they're off to a great start.

I think we'll have a new MVP this season. It make take a while for Cleveland/Lebron get in shape and Durant is out for two months...
.
Would love to see a real competition between the tier 2 players like Curry, Griffin, Paul, AD, Melo..

John Wall will be in the top 3 discussion come end of season. He is absolutely bullying teams right now. Hitting jumpers, controlling games, mOnstering teams on defense and leading his team to a 4-1 start without his partner in crime Bradley Beal. He is right now the best point guard in the game.

Hard to believe but

Bosh and Wall have been the two best players in the East so far.

As far as Cousins and Davis. I so wanted to Davis get drafted by the Kings so I could see them on the same squad.

But yea Cousins needs to make the all star team this year at least.

I know it's early but Cousins has to be in the convo right now as MVP candidate. Wins over the Clippers, Blazers & Denver x2

He lead his team to 4 straight wins after a disappointing home opener against the Warriors. In those 4 games, Cousins is averaging:

25.0 ppg // 10.5 rpg // 2.0 apg //1.3 spg / 1.5 bpg

56.1 FG (16.5 FGA) // 83.9% FT (7.8 FTA) // 62.8% TS

Averaging 28.5 minute/game.

I think Blake Griffin or Curry win it this year.
