Some scans of the 1988-89 Fleer Set. I love how simple they are, I love the font, and I love that the background in most of them is mostly black. I love the color borders that match the teams.

I have some pretty decent ones from the mid-late 90's and early 2000's, but the one that stands out is this Baron Davis jersey card. I remember opening the pack, seeing it and being confused, realizing what it was...such a good feeling :D

Oh boy.
I wish I could find my cards. Hopefully my Mom still has em in storage somewhere. This is gonna sound lame, but I think on my birthday (or it could have been just any regular day) I went to the local card shop by my house, I bought a couple packs, and I got super excited when I got an Antoine Walker jersey card. I remember at the time looking at my beckett (or whatever that thing is called) and it said my card was worth $150.00. I decided to hold on to it because I always wanted a jersey card. I would occasionally take it out off it's individual sleeve and touch the jersey, lol. Gonna message my Mom now to see if she can find my cards and send em to me.

I don't have any jersey cards. They probably came along after I was regularly collecting cards. My local shop shut down around 1995, and that's when I stopped. I looked around for other shops, but they did not have a lot in the way of 80s cards, which is what I was mostly interested in at the time.

One brand that seemed almost like a unicorn to me at the time was Star cards. I had seen them listed in Beckett guides and was desperate to find them, but before the Internet and before I had my own wheels, I had to hope and pray to see them at the local card shop whenever my Dad could take me there. They had older Topps cards, and the more expensive 80s Fleer cards, as well as countless new cards, but never did I once see a Star card.

Thanks to the Internet, I've been able to pick some up, and despite their ubiquity on eBay these days, they still feel that little bit extra special.

Of course, you've got to love Dantley's free throw routine!

They also have cool award cards as well as special sets like "Court Kings", cards dedicated to Finals series and the Dunk contest, etc.

Really. Why comment if only to be rude?
Basketball cards are relatively recent. I have a lot of Baseball cards from the 50's...and a decent group of football cards too. My oldest basketball cards likely are late 70's. I really never bought new Basketball cards... but I had a roomate who was a big collector. He REALLY wanted my '56 Sandy Koufax. I got a BUNCH of cards in the deal. I got Rick Barry and Bill Walton. I got some football cards-including Franco Harris rookie card. I got several cards of Fav Cincy players, Frank Robinson, Joe Morgan, Johnny Bench. Sincee I also had the 57 Koufax... I was okay with the deal. The 57 was "late series and fewer were printed so it's actually more high value than the 56.

My most valued though are baseball ards from 55 to 61. It's cool to have cards of guys like Jackie Robinson,Yogi Berra, Mantle,Mays,Aaron, Bob Feller, Clemente.... and a childhood fav... Ted Klusewski.
CENSORED... No comment.

When I was a kid, I collected the 1992-93 Fleer set, and it was the reason I started to watch basketball. I loved the design and bronze borders. I would buy them for 50 cents a pack at the local cigar shop. Got the Mitch Richmond in one of my first packs and he subsequently became my favorite player (still is as of today). So many fond memories. Nowadays, I focus mainly on Celtics players.

I remember selling an Antoine Walker Topps Chrome rookie for nearly $100. I bet you couldn't flip that thing for a Chipotle burrito nowadays.

Overproduction. That's why everything is numbered these days, but they just make a million different numbered products, so...

Topps Chrome is one of the few sets that has actually held it's value, it not increased, but it's mainly just the refractors. Unopened 96-97 Chrome boxes still go as high as a grand. There are still 90's cards that are highly sought after, though most of them are high end Kobe and Jordan cards.
