In terms of staying in the East, I do think LeBron did this by purpose. He's no dummy, he knows he has a way better shot of making the Finals every single year here.
But the other logic of best Cav or best Heat....uhhh....

You're right, OP. Everything LeBron does is a vast, evil conspiracy!

Re: did LeBron purposely make himself the biggest fish of multiple small ponds?
nope. he didn't give the cavs the #1 pick to draft him. he had no choice as for that "small pond" the first time around.
with the heat he joined a team because he saw no hope of winning in cleveland cause he couldn't get anyone to join him. so he jumped on the heat bandwagon.
his return to cleveland was his choice but he already had both the hometown connection and previously playing there connection. frankly if cavs fans hadn't acted like they were abandoned by their daddy he probably would not have returned. that is not to say he would have stayed in miami. imo he could have jumped to the warriors or something like that if he felt it was better for him

He had the chance to eventually become the greatest player in Miami history but fell way short of achieving it. The GOAT HEAT player will (for the foreseeable future) be Dwyane Wade

This doesn't make any sense. Cleveland yes, Miami no. Don't re-write history. Up to that point, Wade had the better career, and Lebron was only perceived as slightly if at all a better player. Coming to Miami was the opposite of coming to a small pond. He couldn't have come to a bigger pond than by joining Wade. And he knew very well he wasn't ever going to take Wade's throne as the greatest Miami Heat player. That may even be part of the reason why he left.

ok well, I'm speaking for logical individuals who are fans of game of basketball, and we believe as a collective that LeBron is the greatest Heat player ever, you can speak for whoever you're speaking for, I'm totally fine with that, it's just not the same group of people.

Yeah, that's why we keep hearing all those Wade vs Jordan comparisons and discussions if Wade is a top 3 player ever...

It's possible. I still think Lebron came back to the Cavs to win a ring with them and repair the stain on his legacy. If he gets a ring with them either this year or next, I can't picture him signing with them again. I always felt like a big market for Lebron like NY or LA would be the best situation for him. He might choose a team like the Lakers over the Knicks though.

I agree with you that he was and is a better player than Wade. Pretty obvious. As far as being the "greatest" Heat player ever, I think that depends on how you define "greatest." Wade has the bigger legacy in Miami, he's a legend there. So Lebron is the best player Miami has ever had, but Wade has the bigger legacy.

true I agree but none of them including MJ can't hold candle to Robert Horry

and George Mikan is the greatest Laker.

Shaq is better than LeBron, but in terms of his legacy with Miami I'd say he's second to Wade, with Zo just behind him. As to the OP, no I don't think LeBron's motivation was to become the best for multiple franchises.

The one ring that separates Wade from Lebron is a ring that Wade won when he just entered the league and he somehow singlehandedly will the Heat to the title. Watch the games. Lebron never did something like that. He won wit a super stacked team.

so having Shaq on your team makes your win single-handed but when Kobe wins with Shaq it's Shaq's rings (the point everybody including I make)
Wade's first ring congrats on that, despite a lot of luck it took to get there it's still a great achievement, but it's not act like he did more than LeBron did for Miami because last time I checked 2 rings > 1 ring and 4 straight finals > one finals.
