313 Professor wrote:"He's young with so much potential" - very few NBA players have true potential to be great. It's a LIE

By the same vein, "good young player", or something of similar nature, seems to be used all the time by commentators who clearly haven't done their homework. Crappy stats? "Good young player, just need some more time." Mediocre stat? "Good young player, contributing to the team." Good stats? "Good young player, has played very well so far."

It's foolproof regardless of what the guy does.

A: "He's good young player."
B: "But he looks lost out there."
A: "NBA is a hard league. It takes time to adjust."

"Scoring with the reverse layup, using the rim as protection". No, the defender can still block a reverse layup, the rim didn't really do anything.

I was also going to say anything Reggie Miller has to say, but it was covered in first comment; well done GB.

Mark Jackson- "Momm, there goes that man" & "That's a bad man"

or Mike Breen with "Bangggg!"

Mark Followill and Derek Harper are pretty good, they don't have corny catch phrases and try not to homer too much.

This is one of mine too, and you're lucky you don't have to watch Dion Waiters.

Hands down man down... in basketball it makes no sense.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right
...you are a fan of your opinion not the team.

Some variation of the word aggressive.

"We need to be aggressive tonight" or when the announcers say the winning team is that much more "aggressive" than the other team.

"Gotta be aggressive".

Lol, this. How many times can you recall LeBron saying the exact words “We just gotta be more aggressive"?

Mark Jackson, please for the love of God, stop saying "You know the rules. Hand down, man down." Just please.

Personally, I don't think that he's that annoying. He's not great, but I'll take him over Jon Barry/Mark Jackson any day of the week.
