I'll put it this way - on a day where Kevin Durant made his home debut for the Warriors I was just as excited to see Embiid play, and he lived up to those expectations. I'm going to love watching Philly play this year, and Embiid (if healthy) becoming the next dominant big man. I just wish Hinkie was still around to see this through and guide them to contention.

He was rusty, but that length and mobility is real. He barely jumped when he blocked that Jaylen Brown dunk attempt.

Huge, strong, mobile, silky smooth and appears to have both a back down game and genuine range.

He's scary. Seriously scary.

Saric looked very nice, too.

I'm genuinely pissed off that Hinkie got screwed.

It's been a while since a center is this big, talented on both ends and scarily intimidating.

So would everyone eventually agree that his nickname should be "The Process"? I mean it does define his career thus far.

All in all, while I was excited to watch the Cs play, I was also excited to watch Embiid. Thank god they were pitted against each other. Embiid looked great aside from his rustiness. This guy will be the next big thing if he stays healthy imo, even bigger than KAT.

He's already adopted it.

He looked incredible out there, even if you could see he was very sluggish and lost at times. It doesn't really matter if it was Zeller guarding him or how many baskets and highlights he had, the shocking thing was the way he was moving out there, what he can do with the ball and his instincts. He looked a bit like young Shaq with a jumpshot, where you can just see he's a different species than the rest.

Yeah.

dumb rule imo, real talk...he ain't a rookie. Dude sat on the bench of an NBA team and gained valuable experience, even if he didn't play a single second. A real rook has absolutely nothing.

Hinkie died for this.

Was great to watch him finally, it's been a very long time since his last game with Kansas.

I understand qualms with the rule, but I'm not sure I'd consider the experience of sitting on an NBA bench (for 2 years) more valuable than playing collegiately or professionally overseas during that time.

I hope Embiid stays healthy. I also hope Simmons will be fine. I never wish injury upon anyone and the league needs more good players. So, best of luck to Embiid and best wishes to Simmons.

I'm not buying into the hipe. What he has done to be so praised in this game? Nothing. He shoot a bunch of jumpers and bricked em all, he lost the ball multiple times, he had two blocks and in one of them he seems that he was going to break all the bones in his body. I think the hype is just that he is able to step on the court?

He looked rusty and sluggish but at the same time he looked amazing. Hopefully he can stay healthy and play himself into shape, this year is going to be huge for him.

close. the hype is that if he stays on the court, he's going to be a freaking monster. which was obvious to (almost) everyone who watched him play last night.

Aside from injury worries, I'm afraid that he falls in love with his jumpsuit rather than playing mid range and down low in the block.
