Why is Melo overrated? Relative to what?

He's overrated because people exist who think he'd be a star on a team that has James, Paul, and Wade.

Yeah, Paul is a weird addition here if talking about current status, Wade an especially odd one if we are talking about careers.

Maybe, OP, what you meant to say in this thread was: Dwyane Wade and Carmelo Anthony look like they are getting old.

Well for starters, he would be. "Carmelo Anthony" is a star. He may not perform like that, but he is. There are also people who believe the world is flat, doesn't mean that the people who think the world is round are overrated lol

My issue with Melo is that how can he be overrated, for christ sake **** was saying Lonzo ball was better than him and he hadn't even played lol he may actually be underrated at this point.

The general board has been this way about Melo his entire career, even when he was leading crap to the playoffs every year in the West.

You know how good you gotta be to score over 25k points in your career? How can you even call a first ballot HoF'er overrated. That's crazy.

Like I said, the general board has been hating on him his entire career.

The Knicks are better off without Melo now, but damn, people really are hating on Melo's career. Dude was awesome in his prime. Sure, it didn't turn out to much success in the playoffs, but he hasn't really been on a stacked team. In his first ten to 11 seasons, he's led his team to the playoffs. It wasn't until the Knicks in his third season or so that the Knicks started to suck bad. There's not many Lebrons in the league. I think Melo is only overrated if you put him in the same pedestal as a Lebron or Durant. Other than that, he's quite possibly one of the best scorers in the game in his prime. If the Pistons had drafted Melo and he started out on a stacked team, who knows what he might've accomplished.

Sure, he's a star. He's been a star his whole career. Being the #4 guy wouldn't suddenly change that.

Do you honestly think he'd have any real impact though? I think Tyson Chandler would do more for that team than 'Melo. Maybe we've crapped on him to the point that he's now underrated, but the guy can count the number of playoff series he's won on one hand, and he's played for some pretty talented teams.

I was definitely talking about his stardom because of who he is, not because of his play at this point.

However, playing next to LBJ and CP two bonafide superstar playmakers, he definitely has value as a small ball 4 floor spacer. And as a lot of people don't seem to grasp, basketball isn't a black and white thing. His playoff failures are not 100% tied to him. He and for that matter CP's playoff success or lack thereof isn't black and white.

He would for sure be able to provide real impact for this hypothetical team. 6'8 scoring wings who can shoot don't grow on trees lol the actual questioning of this to me shows how underrated he's become and i'm not a melo fan at all.

Nah, Shaq got Wade his first ring and Lebron got Wade his second ring.

Without Shaq or Lebron, Wade would be ringless.

Right, and Kobe would be ringless if it wasnt for Shaq and Pau. Jordan would be ringless without Pippen.

I feel as though I may be the only one who hasn't heard the term "banana boat" when referring to these guys.
