I put more substance to Rose saying something like this than SAS or something like that. Rose is a long time NBA veteran player with connections still in the league. I'm not saying he's right but I'd not quickly dismiss this as click bait either.

What could a Kawhi deal even look like? Who even has the assets? Is this where Boston makes their move or do they still wait for Davis?

Could anyone beat Boston putting everything on the table outside of Kyrie / Tatum / Horford / Hayward (so basically Jaylen Brown / Marcus Smart / Marcus Morris / Yabusele / Lakers 1st / Clippers 1st / Grizzlies 1st).

Omg - these guys are off their rocker. So a top 5 player is upset that he’s missed half the season cause he’s injured - whether it’s cause he wants to play and they won’t let him or vice versa, how in the world does that mean he wants to leave one of the best franshises in NBA history, w/ the GOAT NBA coach who also happens to be 3rd in the West? Kawhi does one commercial and now he’s a team-hopping Diva looking to jump ship to a super team so he can win a ring and a finals MVP - oh wait, guess what, he already has one of each!

It’s ridiculous that this has even become a headline - I hope Pop blasts them and refuses to interview w/ them going forward.

If you are a competitive, all star caliber player, you have to take a serious look at your situation and ask if you have a chance to win. You have to be on a superteam to have a chance in the modern NBA, old school basketball is being phased out.

Kawhi wants out then he is a smart man. The Spurs window has closed but his is still wide open.

There's going to be a lot of Jalen Rose hate and vitriol, but this seems more reasonable than at first glance.

The Spurs had Duncan, Parker, and Manu who all bought in at an early stage due to early success, but Kawhi and even Aldridge are a part of a newer generation. They see the writing on the wall and for the last 20 years, it's been free agency and recruitment that have built the championship squads. Sure there are outliers, but that's been the main ingredient. Players give Pop all sorts of praise and credit, and Texas is a no income tax state, yet San Antonio has had trouble drawing in the big free agent fish. That may or may not mean anything, but it wouldn't surprise me if young players just aren't as awestruck and gung ho for the Spurs as reported.

Now Kawhi is signed for a few more years so this is much ado about nothing, but there have been some cracks in the Spurs armor the last few years.

Sure, but the Spurs have won 5 titles in the past 20 years and are always in contention. I doubt this is the case.

Would love him in Philly but he needs to get healthy first so he doesn't have to deal with our medical staff :)

Please explain to me how Pop **** up the Spurs contention? Did he stick his foot under Kawhi legs or Zaza? Is it his job to sign free agents/make trades or is that on the GM?

The guy is on pace for 19 straight 50 win seasons consistently over-achieving with his roster yet you think the Spurs have a treadmill coming up... SMH

Yeah it may be a reach but the Spurs are a VERY old team that hasn't replaced their Hall of Fame talent sans Kawhi. The landscape of the game has changed. I leave plenty of room that this may mean nothing in a month, but it wouldn't surprise me if Kawhi is looking past San Antonio either.

They have the 6th best record in the league right now without Kawhi. A healthy spurs team is probably as good as anyone not named GS, and the dubs are not a fair measuring stick.

Even if GS didn't exist i don't think the current roster can a title even with a healthy Kawhi, we have seen this story since 2015, great regular season team but their lack of athleticism and speed gets exposed in the playoffs, they need a roster upgrade imo

Yea until that is a team wins that doesn't have a superteam. There is no such thing as "in the new NBA you have to do this." If you are following you aren't leading. It's like saying ISO basketball is gone for good. That is until a player comes along in a scheme that is so good at ISO that they win the championship.

You can't fathom it now until it happens.

As for this thread. Kawhi isn't going anywhere. Not much news in the league, so there has to be something. Kawhi's situation doesn't make sense to anyone so there must be something going array.

Why do people keep saying this? LaMarcus Aldridge was a FA whale when they landed him, and he picked them over the Lakers to boot. To top it all off, dude just signed a three year extension to stay in San Antonio.

Nonetheless, I wouldn't be surprised if this was more ploy than anything else... Pop is like the Belichick of the NBA (not cheating or any similar insinuation, I mean as far as being a mastermind).

I mean i wouldn’t mind that ,but who would philly offer up ?
