Equal pay for equal work. They both play basketball, one gets paid a boatload of money more for the same work. This is textbook sexism on multiple levels.

Been saying this about the porn industry for ages. Those studs deserve a solid raise. Just the thought of hard working chaps like Mandingo & Lex Steele being so severely underpaid drives me nuts.

If Lex Steele agrees to take Mandingo’s abnormally large endowment in his backside hole, he should be paid the same amount that Tori Black gets paid for the same act.

What makes me sick is the likes of LeBron and Curry making 40M a year doing the same work an 2 way player is doing for 1M a year while they are both the same sex.

That's the issue, the work isn't the equal. It's the same work but the results of the work is different. If you have two CEO's, doesn't matter what their gender is, and one generates over $7B in revenue while the other generates less than $100m and doesn't even break even, who do you pay more money to work for you? They both do the same work but the results are drastically different. It might be a 'nice' story to pay them both the same amount but if they were both paid the same then you're either substantially overpaying one person or you're severely underpaying the other.

Most don't. But I think they don't in the sense that they actually don't and not in the NBA accounting trickery sense.

It’s not equal work. One side plays in front of tens of thousands while the other might play in front of a few thousand at the most.

A DJ for a local college radio station may have done the same work as Casey Kasem, but Casey Kasem got paid millions and the kid at the radio station got close to minimum wage. Do you not understand why? Casey Kasem had a worldwide audience. He had millions upon millions of listeners so ad revenue was through the roof. He brought in money so his radio station had both the desire and means to pay him so much. If the kid working at the college radio station demanded equal pay, he'd get fired. Why? Because that kid isn't bringing in anywhere near that type of ad revenue. The college radio station doesn't have the budget to pay him that much and even if they did, he hasn't shown that he is worth that much.

I've mentioned before, I'm very thankful that the NBA is keeping the WNBA afloat. It is a positive image for my basketball-loving daughter. And I do wish it would be promoted more. However, media companies make decisions on what to cover based on what is going to most positively affect their bottom line. It's definitely a catch 22 situation where it's not popular so they don't cover it and because they don't cover it it's not popular. Still, your argument seems to be ignoring basic market principles.

Casey Kasem plays for Minnesota Lynx, right?

lol no

"They both play basketball" is a terrible argument as you surely realize that how well you play basketball has a massive effect on how much you get paid. Players in NBA, WNBA, Australian League, Israeli League, and G League all "play basketball" but you obviously understand that the pay level differs between those leagues, as well as between the players in the leagues.

why do y'all have to be so ruthless to them?

I want to get paid equally with the NBA players too. If I publicly started campaigning for that, people would lol at me too. SO RUTHLESS!

****, and my work actually turns a profit for my employer.

Equal pay for equal work? James Harden and Ben McLemore both play basketball so equal work, but one is on the veteran min and the other is on a max contract. They are both males (in case you weren't aware) so there's no sexism there.

WNBA wouldn't exist if the NBA didn't feel like it was worth subsidizing it. End of story.

This is not a sexism problem, it's a capitalism problem. I think the women's Olympic soccer team has a valid argument, since they actually perform better than their male counter-parts. The WNBA, not so much.

Can we just have communism basketball, where everyone gets paid the same, regardless of performance. That'll definitely push people to try their best.

I'm willing to bet that the men's team would smoke the women's team. By 'perform better' you just mean that they play against inferior competition.

Okay let’s put that’s womans soccer team against the males and see how it goes.

Sports athletes get paid 100% dependent on their sports popularity and how much money they make for the owners. There is nothing to see here. Female basketball players need to shut the **** up and really understand why they’re paid less. Your league simply cannot afford to pay more.

I am all for pay equality for equal work. But this is not equal work.

Wow, another thread so dudes can bash the WNBA. I get it, you’re mad that women are being paid to play Basketball and no one is paying your asses to pretend like you’re Iverson or MJ on the playground basketball courts. Move on
