Thanks for the insight, Harry Garris.

I’m reaching 6’5 or a hair under as a consensus. Is that fair?

It makes sense because he was the youngest player in the league that season, so I would assume that he is NOW 6'5" barefoot and 6'6" with shoes.

I am a Suns fan and I watch every game. I think he is 6'6 (with shoes) for real. Not more, not less.

I believe it. 6’6 with shoes makes sense. Wouldn’t surprise me if he is something like 6’4.75. Would love it if they re-measured players during all-star break or before each season and published those measurements.

It’s crazy to think Rozier (6’2 at the combine) has the same wingspan as Booker (6’8.25).

Rozier has very good length but there are bigger freaks out there at the PG position. Reggie Jackson is the biggest right now at 6'2" with a 7' wingspan (+10). Rondo is 6'1" and has a 6'9" wingspan (+8). Ntilikina has a wingspan 8" longer as well at 7'1" (vs 6'5" height).

The freakiest wingspan (of any position) was probably Kevin McHale. He was 6'10" and had an 8' wingspan. The running joke with him was he could tie his shoes without bending over.

I’m sorry but McHale’s wingspan was not 8’0. He just had weird arms. He was probably closer to 7’3 or 7’4. You are essentially saying he had the same length as Bamba and you can easily look at pictures and see that isn’t the case.

Seriously though, they usually are always a tad generous with heights. So it's usually an inch or 2 less than what's listed.

That isn't far off the rumor

Every. Inch. Matters.

Sorry. Couldn’t help myself.

But seriously, I find height and wingspan to be a significant factor when determining a player’s ceiling. On both sides of the floor. In today’s league anyway.

Well, there's a lot of info out there saying it is 8'. The only source I found for your 7'3" or 7'4" wingspan was another poster in a forum from like 2008. All articles (found one from 1994 even) say his wingspan was around 8'.

Edit: Here's that 1994 article: http://articles.latimes.com/1994-01-31/sports/sp-17222_1_kevin-mchale/2

No. The consensus is 6-6. You decided he was shorter and waited until you had a couple of posts that kinda looked like they agreed with you but really did not. The only person who thinks he is 6-5 is you.

They're not generous anymore, every draft eligible player has been measured countless times before entering the league. The 1-2 extra inches you speak of is because all players are measured with shoes on.

Height is arguably the most overrated tool anyone can use to grade a player as nobody is playing with their head. Wingspan and standing reach are all that really matter.

According to RealGM you can basically add 2-3 inches to every young guys height, to up the hype train.

I know he’s listed @ 6’6 on most sites, but he looks closer to 6’4 in my opinion.

What do you guys think? Is there any evidence to support that he is actually 6’6 or is there evidence to support that he is shorter than that?

Also, feel free to share other players’ heights you think are inaccurately listed.

Offical Combine Measurements are 6'4 1/2 without shoes, 6'5 3/4 in shoes... I don't think the NBA combine is adding inches.

It's very hard for me to believe by looking at McHale that he has 6-7 inches of wingspan over some super long freak like Anthony Davis, or that he has 2 inches of reach on an anomaly like Bamba.
