I really don't understand it from the Celtics POV. Kyrie looks like he's gone, so why give up your assets for AD, whether he stays or leaves?

If Kyrie is indeed gone, I agree. If Danny knows otherwise, it's different. If Kyrie is staying, I absolutely go for AD.

Ya really all it takes is for Kyrie to have told Ainge he is back if they land AD. If that happened then all this makes sense. But if not, I really don't get this move at all. Cause chances are, Boston trades away all their prospects and the team loses the majority of their talent and are a middling team next year in the East (probably 4th-6th seed) and AD bolts in the summer.

This is the Celtics and Pelicans leaking (fake) involvement by the Celtics to force the Lakers to give up more. Most other reports have said the Celtics are not serious bidders for AD since Kyrie is likely to walk and AD won't stay.

But NOP have every incentive to try to make the appearance of a bidding war and the Celtics / Ainge are more than happy to help screw the Lakers.

In reality, the Lakers are the ONLY serious bidder for AD. The Knicks, Clippers, etc. have already dropped off.

I feel like AD would be a good fit in Boston. They could give up Tatum, Smart and their 'treasure trove' of picks. A lineup of Kyrie, Brown, Hayward, AD and Horford would be pretty hard to beat

Ainge will bring the lakers down with the Celtics if they get AD and he leaves for LA the following year as a worst case scenario. Lebron will be too old to win a championship with AD in 2021. I like it. Don’t let LA off easy unless they throw everything in the trade

Believe it or not, I hope the Celtics get him.

I'm not saying it as hate on Boston but it's nice LeBron can't coerce the league to his liking and if the Celtics want to mess up their future and take themselves out of any possible contention...go ahead then. Throw out your future to prove a point I guess. But it's a masive mistake when his representation resents your management and his family members detest them as well. Can't stop them from digging their own grave. Blows my mind Ainge would be this stubborn and let this be the hill he dies on.

Am I the only one that questions the whole flip the 4th pick for an established star thing? Don't try to speed up the rebuild if you don't have too. I don't think they can get that high end of a star player with just that 4th round pick. Id much rather keep that 4th round pick, and try and build a young team around Zion. Even struggling next year really isn't the worst thing, they have their own pick, just means another high end prospect to add in. I think NO should go all out on a youth rebuild around Zion, that means I think they should be looking to flip Holliday as well.
