It is like comparing Tennis players with Table Tennis players, or Volleyball players with Beach Volleyball players, or Ice Hockey players with Field Hockey players. Wheelchair Basketball and Basketball are not the same sports, period.

Last season I complained about centers status in this poll, there is no single center in TOP10. But Jokic and Embiid last season was too good for the same mistake this season, I see them both into TOP8 this time, and I expect this season from K.A.Towns breakthrough to be true TOP15 player, not just by raw stat numbers.

VOTE: Jokic
NOMINATE: Towns

He could still matter in the playoffs. He’s definitely one of the 150 most valuable basketball players in the NBA this season. Obviously top 10 is ridiculous though.

there isn't even a point in including Durant on the poll at this point, this whole thing is compromised.

Out of respect for KD, you can't really drop him lower than this spot....if he's going to be included in the poll.

A little surprised to see Jokic comfortably beating Embiid. Can't go wrong with either here

Voted Durant for the first time here, but guess we are just gonna let him keep sliding.

Have to say, I’ve been kinda surprised how good the voting has been so far. I haven’t had a major quibble with any of the selections yet. Anthony Davis went a couple spots low, but that’s more than understandable.

Looks like we’re probably gonna go: 7. Jokic 8. Embiid 9. George from here which is exactly how I’d have it as well. After that it starts to get interesting. I think Durant will be too polarizing to go for quite a while yet. Probably Dame at #10 and then anyone could grab the #11 spot.

The top 5 is exactly how I'd have it. I'd have put Jokic ahead of AD, and maybe Embiid too. AD/PG/Lillard are close. So Joker is my vote here.

If it's for the 2019-20 season only, then KD probably shouldn't even be on the poll right? Since he almost assuredly won't play this season.

No way "with one leg" he is going to beat Jokic, Embiid or George in these polls, which means he will be out of TOP10 at least, and which is degrading for 2nd best player of this decade. Also, with his percentage of votes rising, more and more votes are unnecessary wasted.

6th year after his draft Embiid still need to prove first he is capable for his first-ever 65+ season, while Paul George in the best case will play 65 games after missing the first month of the action due to surgery recovery, so Jokic winning is not surprising. I'm actually surprised how easy Davis beat Jokic for #6 considering Davis will play for the first time in a team with a bigger star, while Jokic will be a dominant force in Denver once again in everything.

Elton's move snagging Horford to potentiate Embiid is inspired.

I think this is about where Durant would slide for me as a reasonable expectation of who he will be after the injury. I personally feel he will be about 90% of the player he was before the injury and that's about this spot or so.

You'd think that would be common sense given the name/purpose of the thread but apparently not.

I think Durant was included in the poll, because it’s not based on predicted 2019-2020 performance, but instead on how we would rank the top 25 players in the NBA at the start of the 2019-2020 season. But I’m not sure everybody can see the difference with that. With injured players the best we can do is predict how they will play when they return. It kind of helps to think about it as free agency and what order you would sign them.

By the way if Durant, recovers quickly he can possibly start playing as early as February from what I’m hearing. And everybody I’ve seen talk about Durant’s recovery, predicts that after he returns he won’t be affected as much as some other players. This is due to the way Durant’s plays basketball, his conditioning prior to the injury, work ethic, etc.

If he's smart he won't play. He's so limited recovering from this injury that he won't even be able to keep his cardio up. No reason not to wait until the following season so that he can be both fully healed and as close to playing shape as possible. Rushing back for the playoffs not only risks re-injuring the achilles but also risks other sorts of injuries from playing at a high level when not in proper shape.
