It'd be cool to start following a franchise that knows what they're doing, from the top down.
Competent management with clear goals and standards, team culture, and players who enjoy playing, working together, and competing.
Any up and coming franchises that fit the bill on this ?
I'd like to have the opportunity to watch.
Thanks
I actually think the team that best fits your description might be the Spurs. But they are a small market and have a coach who is likely going to retire soon after about 25 years with the team. There's not any franchise you can root for without risk of "incompetence" rearing its ugly head. That's part of being a fan.
The Nuggets seem to fit the bill as well.
Personally, I think it's a bit weird that you're asking who you should root for. Unless you're in middle school or something - in which case I wouldn't be so hard on you. Still, I think the best thing is just to figure it out for yourself. Pick a player, or two, or a core, who you like and admire, and follow that team.
Besides SAS and DEN, MIA has also been a lot of fun this season. You might go with them if you want an Eastern team so it doesn't interfere as much with your Kings fandom.
Personally, the team I've watched the most this season and last season has maybe been the Mavericks. (It's either the Mavericks or the Rockets.) They clearly like playing together, have phenomenal young talent, a great coach, etc.. They also have stability within the front office and a culture of accountability on the court thanks to Carlisle. The only hesitation in recommending them would be some of the sleezier implications of the news that has come out surrounding Porzingis, Cuban, and other less famous people within the organization.
