He absolutely **** on year 2 Rose. He is much more in line with year 2 LeBron.

Dont agree, too soon even if thats likely to happen full time soon.

But its besides the point. I'm not comparing him to D Rose as a player, I'm saying that no 2nd year young player has looked this close to off the bat dominance and looking like a superstarish as Luka is right now, since MVP D Rose.

Let's at least wait until mid season before making conclusions like this.

It's not a conclusion, it's a simple acknowledgment of his current level of play. A year 2 D Rose comparison is absurd.

Listen, Luka has been a pro for many years. He has been an MVP. Nothing he is doing is flukey. He is simply beginning to realize his immense potential at the NBA level, and he took a big leap this season. His WORST case scenario stat wise this season is 25/7/7 on a 56% TS. He will very likely exceed that. And they have a great chance to make the playoffs in the West.

Get used to Luka at the top of the league fellas. He is going to be there for a very, very long time. Might as well just acknowledge that he is already right there.

Definitely.

He already was at Real Madrid in a way other hyped promising youngsters were not, as the whole range of legit shooting, passing, rebounding and overall IQ was already there in a way not even Lebron had. I mean you don´t win European MVP at that age because of hype, and a healthy Doncic becoming an NBA superstar was pretty much a certainty imho.

Yesterday´s numbers against Lebron were monster ones that go far beyond scoring in terms of impact, and anyway you look at it this didn´t seem to happen by chance.

If you use superstar in the sense of being a top 5 player, the answer is clearly NO.

This feels like a good excuse to just drop this here though.

luka is absolutely a superstar. Not a star, but superstar... You ask anybody who follows basketball, fiba and nba, they know luka and they know he is good. He got second most votes for allstar last year if i remember correctly. That is enough of indicator

You're serious?
If anything, that's the reverse.

It wasn’t in the 4th quarter against the Lakers.

Assume that’s one he is referencing.

GOt an example of that? If anything the refs let the Lakers play him hard and some calls certainly didn’t go his way. Starting with that offensive foul that should have been a foul on Lebron.

It wasn’t as bad in the 4th, but I certainly saw no superstar calls.

In the 4th, he tried to sell a foul on Howard (ended up with a bleeding head). I can see a lot of superstars getting that called.

He was also fouled and shot the ball at the same time, but wasn’t given the continuation. The anticipation was good and Harden still gets those type of fouls.

What’s your example?

Well, if all calls go his way he's certainly NBA superstar, so he's probably not just yet.

You have a point.
Though, are James harden and Russell Westbrook superstars then?

They both had big games in the playoffs but also disappeared when it mattered. Hence why both are very controversial superstars in comparison with LeBron, KD or Kawhi. They're not guaranteed to perform when it matters. However, I would say Harden ranks higher than Westbrook though.

I've been rapidly scrolling through the comments in a Sac Kings' forum last night and ...man, I feel sorry for them., honestly . It seems they made a "Luka Doncic (exclusive) thread" because it was contaminating everything.

Yeah, sometimes he gets calls and sometimes he doesn’t. He’s great at drawing fouls, so it should be part of his game.

Yesterday though, he got the opposite of superstar calls in the 1st half. In the 2nd half I thought it was fair. The fact that he finally got some calls that he didn’t get in the 1st half doesn’t mean he got superstar calls.

He's bigger and more skilled, so it's normal he gets calls based on mismatches. He's learned tricks from Harden that's for sure. Just recently saw him blatantly throw his body into a defender. I lose respect for such players and NBA in general for giving such advantage to the offensive player.

Luka is only averaging 8 ft attempts per game, while Harden 16,2 ft per game.

Not even close to Harden level.

Yes, he has just become one. He was already voted to the allstar game. That means he already has the recognition of the public, but not his peers (it usually happens to rookies, Jordan was freezed in his first all star game).
But now?. Yes. Just 5 games. Many new superstars forming early in this season.

He isn't a superstar yet. He's still a tier below Kawhi, Lebron, AD, Curry, Harden, Lillard, etc.

If he keeps this up he should definitely be an All-Star though.

Yes.
Name 5 players you would choose to start your franchise before Luka.

Does it matter?

Hes certainly playing like a top 5-10 player and it certainly looks sustainable.

Hes an almost lock for the all-star game already.

He is certainly better than Curry this season. And with the others, he's very close. I'd pick him over Lillard any day.
