My issue is teams need to quit being rewarded with tv exposure. They should be able to pull that game and put sixers/jazz on instead.

It's ok for winning titles, however, when it comes to the GOAT conversation, no one will put him in the same tier with MJ, Magic, LeBron and other greats.

Kawhi has 8426 career points.

Longevity DOES matter.

The issue is that load management is a very rational choice.
We can blame Kawhi or Clippers all we want, but we must address the root cause: the RS has so little value that protecting the health of your players is worth more than fighting for having HCA.

Reduce the number of games, reduce the number of teams accessing the playoffs, give some significant advantage to the #1 seeds (like skipping the first round)... then having your star resting can be a very costly decision. Today it's a smart choice.

Like for Hinkie, don't hate the player, hate the game.

I understand he isn't going to play back to back. That is fine. I just wish he was playing the marquee games.

In the long run, it doesn't matter. I get it. The postseason is what really matters. Missing 2 national tv games against heavyweights kinda sucks though. Oh well.

In the big picture, playoffs are basketball and regular season is "team management". Not particularly interesting for viewers, but at least there's other sports that are competitive such as NFL regular season.

The NFL has less games yet make more money. Revenue(especially profit) is not solely driven by the number of sporting events. MLB not the NFL would be King if this were the case. The NBA would have to market the reduction in games with some type of "less is more" campaign. Also they more than likely have to invent "basketball days". Perhaps Tuesdays and Fridays with the marquee games being on Saturday. To help avoid going head up with the NFL.

I just hate people spreading the idea that less games automatically means less profits.

All I know is I didn’t Have to spend thousands for a bunch of games this year just to have Leonard not play, which I did last year.

I don't mind the load management, but don't do it for marquee match ups that fans want to see. I wanted to see Giannis vs Kawhi. Why wouldn't he sit out for the Blazers game?

Reducing the no. of games in the regular season won't stop the likes of kawhi taking games off. I was saying it last season. This dude is shrewd af and will always seek an advantage. I'm sorry but i can't give him the respect others can, when come playoff time, he'll have played 15-20 games less than the likes of bron, harden etc. Anyway at least for me, this load management only hurts his legacy.

While we can't say for sure less games means lesser or no load management it's only logical to assume it will. Leonard has to understand his legacy/resume dictates his marketability. The less games he misses the more likely he is to win individual awards. If he's able to get sufficient rest why would he still need to "load manage"?

This argument is so overused. Chris Paul is an injury prone player. Kawhi is also an injury prone player. Load management makes no difference to players with frail frames. They'll get injured again and using the minutes argument makes absolutely zero sense because they have a fraction of the mileage actual work horses have. Especially Kawhi. He literately has been missing game every year since he's been drafted.
