Past story. Baynes started his pro career in Vilnius Lietuvos Rytas, same team Jonas Valanciunas played at a time. Baynes was big, srong and athletic, but he was super raw and just expendable backup. Team coach once famously said - if russians can teach bears to ride unicycle, we can teach Baynes to play basketball. Baynes spent 2 years there, and they honestly have not teach him play basketball, he wasnt very good. He then spend few years in some irrelevant clubs and I completely forgot about him, but few years later crappy Euroleague team signed him and he was great, was much improved. After that season Spurs signed him and thats how he got into the league. Till this day in Vilnius when talking Baynes, its popular to say that bear not only learned to ride unicycle, but he can shoot 3s too now.

Ha. Good story. So impressed with AB's attitude when he represents Australia. Before the impressive stats, he always played hard and seemed a good team personality.

Great guy to have on your team. Willing to do the dirty work, always puts the team first and defends his teammates. Just a solid dude. I'm happy he's playing well for the Suns.

Celtics fans have seen what he's capable of, especially after he started shooting those 3s. One of the more underlooked Centers on the league. What he does on the court is valuable and the young guys in that Suns team should feel blessed that they're playing alongside his veteran leadership. He's one of the main reasons why I was sad about the offseason despite the signing of Kemba.

Happy to see him playing well and doing his usual thing and being appreciated by Suns fans.

Boston kept him on a strict 23-25 minutes cap. Phoenix seems to be OK with him going a little higher than that. If they're right, and if he holds up w/o too many injuries, that's progress right there.

Let's be realistic, once Ayton is back, Baynes minutes will down under 20.

I don't think this will happen. First off most Suns fans think Monty is going to make Ayton earn his minutes. D'Andre will definitely need to get into game shape. Second, Frank Kaminsky could be the odd man out with Baynes and Ayton seeing court time together.

Actually he is averaging 23.8 minutes per game... splitting minutes with Frank right now.

I think this hits the nail on the head... Every team needs 1 or two guys who excels at doing the dirty work. They're the unsung hero's of every team. Favors with this guy for the Jazz forever. Probably never got the credit he deserved.

It is cool to see Baynes bust out like this, and probably even cooler that it's on this Suns team who as completely sucked for years... great to see the Suns turning a corner.

Ricky Rubio effect?

I dunno man. He was killing the Lakers on 3s when he was open and with a hand in his face.

Miss the hell out of this guy. I'd take him over any player in our frontcourt

Guy threw himself like 20 times on the floor after minimal contact...

Here are just a few of his highlights, the other 10-15 are missing....

Wow... Isn't he like a "physical" player? He did get those calls though... I hate the argument the 90s was more physical, but can you imagine a David Robinson falling like that to draw fouls

Google on "Bill Laimbeer flops".

Two of the many hits I got doing that were http://www.espn.com/espn/page2/story?page=neumann/070607 and http://www.sportsonearth.com/article/214535888/floppers-best-basketball-history Some elite floppers besides Laimbeer cited in those articles include Dennis Rodman, Karl Malone, John Stockton and Reggie Miller. And Vlade Divac, of course.

Are you suggesting he's not a physical player??
