Who was more of an ATHLETIC FREAK? Orlando Magic Shaq or Zion

Zion is one of the most oustanding physical talents in NBA history. This guy at 19 is one of the strongest players in the league and he's quick and nimble on his feet. He also has good coordinatiom for such a large guy. Amazing to watch.

I'd pick young Shaq comfortably in terms of physicality and athleticism. The only player I'd consider over Shaq in that aspect is Wilt.

Yup lol. As to OP question. Its Shaq all day long. Zion Been a little underwhelming. But that's due go my expectations being sky high. I thought he'd be moving much better out there on the court and even faster in transition. I always knew his "skill" would have to catch up to his athleticism. Hopefully he gets fully healthy and we start seeing better and free flowing movement from him.

Shaq's footwork is ridiculously underrated. The guy in his youth had some nice finesse moves.

Funny thing the best part and play of this game was during a Shaq attempted dunk. Bobby Hurley, all 150 pounds or so of him, takes a charge from Shaq while he was attempting a dunk.

LeBron is not on Wilt and Shaq tier at all. His combination of that athleticism with skill and basketbal IQ is what makes him special, but other than durability, I wouldnt call LeBron god tier athlete. I would put ZIon way up LeBron actually.

I voted Shaq. I feel like I’ve seen a lot of Zion before and his name was Charles Barkley. We’ve never seen anyone remotely like Shaq before or after.

I’ve seen a few athletic freaks in my life. The others were young MJ, young Bron, Spud Webb and Charles Barkley. Much like young Shaq and Zion, those last 2 names shouldn’t have been doing things they did with the bodies they were given.

There have been a lot of other highly athletic players, I kinda want to add Westbrook to this list too, I just feel like I’ve seen them all in various forms over time.

LB is certainly a god tier athlete.

But as you mentioned durability, yes, a better comparison would probably be someone like Karl Malone who was always an elite athlete and unbreakable until the very end.

He had an NBA body in hs and could jump out the gym. At his peak he literally may have been the fastest guy in the league while playing in Karl Malones body, and possibly the ability to be the best PG in the league if needed... Lol

Why is this a question? Shaq at 7 ft 285 pounds was very quick on his feet and the strongest guy in the league. You could not stop him from dominating once he sealed his man down low. You either fouled him or he dropped 2 on you.
