how do we know that it wasn't the equipment that gave him the virus? it could be the media person who brought it and gobert caught it from it, why didnt someone wipe down the equipment or have hand sanitizer at the table

do we even know the instant that he got it? if he already had it at that moment? or got it after the interview?

also...everybody is touching stuff, it's not like media people are wearing gloves, it's not like he coughed and spit all over the equipment, he literally just touched it and someone shouldve cleaned it after, also its airborne anyway so just breathing in the same closed space woudlve had same effect than him touching stuff...he probably touched a billion things that day, he sat on the chair, someone had to touch the chair after, his hands were on the table, someone had to move the table and take the cloth off...

why don't we see who was handling the equipment if that is what spread it? he didn't just randomly get the disease, he got it from someone, an outsider...possibly a media person

people need to chill with this outrage, you cant put the entire blame on him for the season-ending, that is just stupid

No stop being so sensitive. He didn’t create the virus.

No, he didn't do anything illegal nor violated any rule. Being careless is not a crime. I think fans, like myself, are pissed right now (rightfully) but will not change our longstanding view of me. Who knows, maybe we will all laugh about it with him, in the future.

Not really. You might as well discipline every idiot who thinks it's 'just the flu' and nothing to be afraid of.

But he was like that in the locker room as well..touching other players and their bags, joking about it..and now Mitchell has it. Mitchell is clearly upset about it and highly likely he got it from Rudy when Rudy was touching him and his bags etc.
Once the season continues very curious to se Rudy Mitchell relationship on the floor...

Most ppl didnt take any of it seriously because of the lack of information/relevancy to the issue.

It’s one thing to “not take any of it seriously”, it’s another to go out of your way to do what he did. Can’t imagine being the reporter’s who’s microphones and recorders were on that podium.

Should have his reputation tarnished.

I can imagine being those reporters. They were complaining about having to stand away from Rudy. At that time, they only cared that their access was being restricted. Look back at what they were saying at the time.

Rudy was showing the reporters that he was with them. With hindsight, yes everyone was not taking it seriously. But these gross misinterpretations of the situation and manufactured malicious intent causes real damage.

Many of us are in a situation just like Rudy is. We have the virus but are unaware. We just don’t have him as an example. Instead of making villains out of those infected, use them as an example of how we can be better. Like I said, there many who have the virus and are unaware.

If you’re going to go after anyone, go after those who are responsible for our lack of testing. People are going to keep spreading the virus if they don’t know they have it.

The touching microphones is so trivial in the first place. Gobert was playing basketball games, breathing, sweating, and making contact with people without knowing he was infected. That’s the situation we have to prevent, because it can happen to any of us. Unless you’re self quarantined with no symptoms at all, you are at risk of doing the same as Gobert.

This. While it wasn't the best thing to do in hindsight he was trying to say to the media they are with them. He could have done a better job by simply saying that, however he probably wanted to show it by action.

That said, should he get fined or disciplined for what he did, including touching the microphone after interview and being playful in the locker room as complained by his teammates.
Another scary thing is, how did he get the virus. It would be terrifying if he got it from another NBA player and it has been widespread.

This man will be mocked by NBA fans for the rest of his career. No punishment can come close to that.

No player has ever blocked an entire league.... all of pro sports, actually. Rudy should get the award for DPOC: Defensive Player of the Century.

I will settle for nothing less than death by firing squad!!!

Maybe if he knew he had it and he intentionally tried to spread it you'd have a case, but thats not the case. As others said him looking like a dumbass/assh*le in addition to actually having the virus is punishment enough.

There's ZERO evidence that he actually spread it to anyone. For all we know he may have gotten it from Mitchell. He obviously didn't invent virus.
