Plus, many players don't want to be separated from their families or have to undergo a ten day quarantine for leaving the bubble area. As well as give up their summer vacation time.

The NBA would be smart just to cancel this season and move on to planning for having a successful 2020-21 season. As it stands now the NBA will be rushing into the 2020-21 season and the schedule will revert to an old one of 4 games in 5 night and more back to backs which will lead to a lot of player management scenarios from teams while robbing the fans of an enjoyable NBA experience.

If it don't fit don't force it just relax and let it go...
I don't think next year really has to be rushed in terms of back to backs & 4 games in 5 days.

No ASG/ break which is about 12 days ( don't want large crowds anyways)

First 2 rounds of playoff games don't need to be so spread out

Will they make up all of the 6 weeks? Pobably not, but making up 4 or 5 weeks is possible.

To me this sounds more like, "do I really want to go live in Disney World for the next 3 months" and how it impacts the following seasons schedule more than it does health concerns.

I understand it but at the same time, restaurants are opening, gyms are opening, theme parks are opening.. can't live in this fear forever.

If the most high profile players wanted to play they'd be playing already.

Let's keep it 100. They aren't scared of COVID.

They're concerned with not being able to get pussy and weed while stuck inside Disney World for 2 months.

I bet Harden's first question was whether or not Disney World has a strip club.

The NBA has communicated with general managers that the regular season schedule for 20-21 could be condensed to keep the league as close to its usual timeline as possible, according to Travis Schlenk of the Atlanta Hawks. The NBA could play more back-to-backs and sets of four games in five nights, which the league has attempted to move away from due to player rest.

Didn’t KATs mom pass away due to covid ? I could see why there would be concern. They have to do what’s best for them.

That or they're enjoying not doing anything and they have enough money where it doesnt matter. This applies to baseball too. Restarting these leagues period is going to be difficult. The NFL is going to have the same problems in two months.

As per RealGM:

The NBA and National Basketball Players Association are agreeing on a plan that would allow players to stay home without consequences as there are a faction of players with concerns about entering the bubble. There were 40 to 50 players on and off a conference call in the past 24 hours discussing a number of concerns centered on the restart in Orlando.

There will be no visitors allowed until after the first round of the playoffs, which is nearly seven weeks after the opening of mid-July training camp.

Players are citing a number of concerns, including family situations, the inability to leave the Disney World Resort campus, COVID-19 and the implications surrounding the emergence of social justice causes in the country.

There have been concerns about how players will adapt to an environment of isolation, especially those on non-title contending teams.

Those players deciding against the Orlando resumption wouldn't be paid for missed games.

This doesn't mean they have to do this.

Things are going to change alot from now to then.

Im ok if players wont play. As long as they don't get paid. Lets see the 10-12th man on the lineup do their best esepcially if they are playing for their next contract.

As an article wrote.. seems that a lot of olayers live paycheck to paycheck... I would expect those getting max money would be ok not playing.. but the 4th-12th man? I would think they wanna earn those checks

Not really. They are better served making the playoffs work. The restart idea works because of the playoffs. You can't have a similar bubble arrangement for the 6 plus months of the 21 regular season+playoffs. If the NBA could plan for one effectively it would be the playoffs. The problems we have now would be ten fold when planning a regular season restart

People joke about “strip clubs, weed and women” (as players are just some dummies only interested in getting inebriated and fking, right? ), but Covid risks aside, being locked in a bubble for up to 3 months without family or the ability to come and go as you please is quite unappealing.

Maybe for a number of players, they value time with family over what is likely prorated to be what, 10-20% of one year of salary?

COVID is running rampant in south florida, particularly in the boonies of northern palm beach county which isn't far from orlando. when disney opens and people start circulating again, who knows what will happen. our governor thinks COVID is a chinese hoax so if i was an nba player i'd be worried too.

Joe Ingles openly said he would consider retiring and returning to Australia to protect his immuno-compromised family.

Now what? What sort of accountability should he be held to?
