Miami is in the driver's seat to become a dynasty next summer. Can add 2 max deals to Buter/Herro/Bam!

isn't the salary cap going to be way lower than it is now? I don't see how they can fit 2 max + butler in that scenario

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s true. Lebron wants a players coach. That’s why Lue did so well with him.

They should go after Kawhi instead of Giannis. The spacing with Bam, Butler and Antetokounmpo would be awful. Kawhi on the other hand would compliment their core perfectly.

They can't. It's like a max plus 10 mil.

Kawhi would be a great fit. He doesn't need to lead. Butler is the leader. He just follows and plays.

Though Kawhi's knee would worry me.

3, assuming they don't win this year would have butler at 35, he's not a guy I see being at that level in 3 years. 6 years? He'll be playing with a cane :)

the max is a percentage of cap...so that would go down too, no?

It's just a rumour but also they're contenders now.

I could see them having one max spot, but not two...Dragic is the best offensive player on their team. take him off that team and they can't score. they have to sign him

That was the rumor last year because Miami wanted Westbrook, then when that trade fell through, OKC tried to dump CP3 on the Heat and wanted draft picks to boot lol. Miami was not interested then and I don’t think they’ll be interested now. CP3 is a great player, but he makes too much money on too long a contract.

I can't see Miami cutting ties with Dragic, the guy is so vital to that team. But yeah, they'll be awfully attractive in 21.

Fake News!!!

Cap Space Miami 2021 Season

Butler - 36
Herro - 4
Okpala - 1,8
Ryan Anderson - 5.2M
Total payroll - 47M
Bam Cap Hold 15,3
Duncan Cap Hold 2,1
Nunn Cap Hold 2,1
Roster Charges - 6
Total Salary used - 72,5
Cap Space (109M)- 36.5 (barely 1 Max salary)

And I didn't pick Silva and Iggys TO , didnt re-sign Jones, Dragic, Olynik and Crowder.

Miami should try to lock Dragic and Crowder. Especially if they miss Giannis.

They could make the team weaker if they trade chemistry and depth (Dragic/Crowder/Jones/Olynik) for a max player like Oladipo, Jrue Holiday or even PG13.

Assuming the cap drops this summer and then goes back up to 2019 levels next summer the max salary would be $27,285,000 for a player with 6 or less years experience and $32,742,000 for a player with 7 to 9 years experience.

That would put the 2021 summer(or fall) salary cap at $109 million. I think its most likely somewhere between $105 million and $110 million for the 21-22 season but that of course is assuming that the NBA is able to let some fans, and more importantly let suite holders back into arenas next year.

Miami will have about $55 million on the books and about $55 million to spend if my math is correct.... of course its entirely possible they want to keep more of their own guys and they do just slot into one max salary slot in 2021 but even that is going to be good for a team with these young guys already appearing to likely be finals bound this year.

2 of their top 4 playoff performers are free agents this season. They'll likely just keep 1 max spot open to go after Giannis. Leonard and George aren't going to leave. And Oladipo isn't a dynasty maker, I mean he shot 39% in these playoffs with more turnovers than assists.

Just enjoy the the ride and win one first before thinking of dynasty. This Heat team is fun to watch but they're still the underdog if they face the Lakers in the event that both advance.

Bam's gonna get maxed, Giannis will be max.

That's an insane amount in two players who do the same thing. C's to boot! Neither shoot well.

bstein14 wrote:Pat Riley has set the heat up to become the next elite team in the NBA. Already a finals caliber team this year, next summer they will have an almost empty roster and they'll be able to add to the Butler/Herro/Bam trio.

Herro will be on $4 million on his rookie deal.
Bam will be an RFA but his cap hold will be only $12 million, so they can sign two max deals and then resign him after.
Butler is making $36 million.

Insane to think they could add Giannis /Oladipo to that trio. Or Giannis and just about any other of a ton of good FAs.

Even if they just land one max guy and resign a few of their current role players I think they're just in an incredible position to really leapfrog the rest of the East including Brooklyn and Boston.

Who’d play point guard if they signed both Giannis and Oladipo? It might not matter but I think they should go at Conley and Giannis instead. It would really fill out their roster I think.

gorz wrote:I think pure logic says adding giannis would make them even more deadly but isn't it possible it could actually set the team back seeming how the roster is currently constructed and gianiis would likely want the ball in his hands which could conflict with Jimmy butler and ball movement.

Butler doesn’t really demand the ball, he’s Kawhi Lite. Giannis would be so damn effective if he wasn’t relied upon so much cause the Bucks suck, there is always changes in overall team chemistry with the addition of a star player, in all likelihood that change would be positive. The Heat would be dominant.

I like Miami and who know maybe they could be? However, KD, Kyrie and Nash will have something to say about it for the next few seasons. Regardless, they have done well with what they have and are part of the top few franchises in the East
