Not enough credit to Portland, I think they’re better than people think.
11 titles won in LA in the modern era, while y’all living on “success” from 2 generations ago

This will be a good thread to look back at towards the end of the season.

The Lakers circlejerk is getting old, real quick. Right now they're 2-2 and headed for the play-ins, cool it with crowning yourself champs. Gonna be a long ass season at this rate.

Probably Denver atm. Mavs are coming.

One of the better benches in the league too maybe not top 5 but close enough. Cam Johnson, Saric, Kaminsky can all play and give depth from 3-5. Moore is a really solid player. Cam Payne is a good backup Pg these days. Carter is like Pat Bev 0.5

it would take a unique confluence of circumstances. i'm a believer in vet experiences as that has ALWAYS(except in 77/78) the rule in the nba. but certainly the implosion of the clips, the issues at gsw, portland's lack of playoff resume(i just don't trust that team), and hou basically being done, takes out all the experiences teams, leaving the lakers, denver, mavs, and utah, thereby leaving the lakers as the only remaining vet team. so phx is plausable only because of cp3

however while phx's chances have improved they really in the same boat as utah, denv, and mavs because it's YOUTH is the same overriding factor as the other three.

How is it Denver? Denver was down 3-1 to Utah in first round. Could have easily lost in first round. Same for second round it took some massive choking from Kawhi and PG for Denver to survive second round, and then drummed by Lakers. And this year they’ve lost Jeremi Grant and are off to a horrible start.

Let’s be honest if you ask 100 lakers fans if they’d rather face clippers this year in conference finals or Denver, there would be a pretty good percentage who would LOVE to face Denver instead of having to go against the Clippers (who if healthy and focused will absolutely be their biggest threat, all jokes aside).

Seriously, any lakers fans that would prefer to face the clippers in the playoffs over Denver? State that now so we can revisit these convos during playoffs :). Give me Denver any day of the week, I’d prefer to avoid the Clippers.

Man it feels good to read about general board laughing at us . You are still laughing but this time it does not hurt so much !

If the bubble play and the start of this season is not just an upswing we might indeed make some noise. Those last 12 suns regular season games have been pretty dope.

Suns are the biggest threat because they have now the career playoff choker Paul in their Team to lead a bunch of young Players

I like your logic

Mavs could be interesting but i think theyre too flawed on defense.

It would be the Nuggets again but losing Jerami Grant was big. He was their best option on Bron and Ad. They have no one to check either now

Portland is better this season but theyre too easy to stop in the playoffs as weve seen time and time again

Utah is solid but you just arent going anywhere if Rudy Gobert is your best player

Warriors

Phoenix has Cp3 whos a game changer on both ends. Booker is trying on defense and is a top 10 scorer in the league maybe a top 10 offensive player in general. Ayton is potentially a generational big that can compete with Ad physically/athletically. Bridges is becoming one of the premier young talents among twoway players. His defense is SICKENING and hes developing on offense. Crowder is arguably a top 5 role player in the league. Him at the 4 when you have the length of Ayton and Bridges at the 3 is hard to beat

One of the better benches in the league too maybe not top 5 but close enough. Cam Johnson, Saric, Kaminsky can all play and give depth from 3-5. Moore is a really solid player. Cam Payne is a good backup Pg these days. Carter is like Pat Bev 0.5

I believe the Suns will gain a ton of confidence going into the playoffs and play much, much better. Adding Paul will have a huge uplifting impact on O and especially D side even though he is aging rather rapidly.

That said, Ayton a generational talent? Come on now!

Not Yo Ham Lakers!

I think "threat" is giving any team in the West too much credit. Mild annoyance might be as far as anyone gets. Barring injury of course.

A young team with a new-ish roster combination is the biggest threat to the Lakers 4 games in? Some of you guys are crazy with these early takes, like you just want to get some takes in so you can go back and say “look I predicted it” or something.

Well the OP is not even a Lakers fan, but I agree. Let's tone it down a little on the Lakers overreaction. They are 2-2 and doesn't look very solid so far.

My main annoyance is that everyone already knows the Lakers are a good team and they have a good shot at winning another ring. We don't need multiple threads about how good the Lakers are every day, especially when they aren't even having that great of a start.
