Mavs get off the contracts of KP and Powell and go into the off-season with much more flexibility. 60ish million in capspace, to start rebuilding a team around Luka while he's still the most underpaid player in the league.

Drummond/WCS/Boban
Nance/Kleber/Johnson
DFS/THj/Windler
Richardson/THj/Green
Luka/Brunson/Terry

Cavs unload Drummond for something and got with Okoro/KP/Allen as one of the best defensive pairings in the league to support their smaller Sexland backcourt.

Allen/KP/McGee
KP/Love/Wade
Okoro/Osman
Sexton/Dotson
Garland/Sexton/Burke

No thanks I'm sure the Cavs would prefer to keep Nance and the FRP. Actually Nance at his salary is probably the better bargain over KP and his salary.
If they deal Drummond I highly doubt they can take back a KP type contract plus Powell to boot. The Cavs need to pay Allen this summer and already have Love's contract on the books. Teams can't be spending $90 mil on their frontcourt when the league is now wing/guard centric.

Just not sure how you buy a guy who misses 20-30 games a season. Unicorn or not, he has to be on the court to deliver.

I'd love to see him healthy, I really would.

Nelson, Cuban, & the Mavs messed up with this one. They'd be lucky to get one of these small market teams on board with getting him and not sending back another albatross contract

Not only is he injured half the time he doesn't create, rebound, or play defense. We all gave the Knicks a hard time when they dealt KP (mainly because they didn't get any of the big FA's that summer) but the truth is they traded when the market was still high on this guy.

Porzingis is extremely talented, but injuries may prevent him from both playing consistently and reaching his full potential. As far as his awful defensive metrics this year go, I have no idea what happened, the guy was a 2 way force last year. I'm guessing he hasn't fully recovered from his injuries

On that note, do you think this makes sense for both teams?

Cavs aren't trading Allen. He's a Cav for a long time.

How do Mavs feel about CJ McCollum as a secondary scorer to Luka?

That would be a great get for the Mavs.. idk about it for the blazers given the blazers injury luck with big men and KPs injury history..

He's exactly the type of player they need next to Luka to get to the next level. Not sure what a deal would look like though

The problem is, if KP can't coexist with Luka then who can he play with? Assuming he ever actually plays and isn't injured.

Only way a Celtics/Mavs trade could happen is if it was centered around two oft injured players Kemba/KP

Then i don't see how a Porzingis to the Cavs trade could materialize. The Cavs, as you pointed out, would potentially be paying big money to 3 bigs by next year in Porzingis, Allen, and Love (who is going be hard if not impossible to move).

Think this is more or less inevitable... It's unfortunate, because i think KP is a solid player, but 1. he's getting paid like a superstar, which he is far from being one, and 2. he's injured 80% of the time... and there is only so many times you can get hurt before the body eventually breaks down...

Other than CJ being considerably better than KP, the Blazers already have Nurkic and Kanter at C. Zinger isnt a full time PF, maybe a few minutes but full time would be a disaster.

I love watching KP when he is on. He is a delight. That being said, there must be some real motivation issues as no way is he this bad a defender. It has to be effort, and the eye test says the same IMO. I think Zinger might not only have some attitude issues, but he also strikes me as the type that doesnt eat and breath basketball. I wouldnt be surprised if he is a regular in the Dallas party scene, he just seems like that type. And that is fine if it doesnt affect your play, but I really think it does.

fwiw (which is nothing) Cuban is denying this through known Mavs mouthpiece Brad Townsend.

Posted in the trade forum:

Dallas: Kemba, Theis, Green, Edwards 2 2nd round picks
Boston: Porzingis, Richardson, Powell

Boston gets upgrade for the bigs and wing help in Richardson

Dallas gets Kemba to team up with Luka and most importantly opens up cap space for Dallas next year to offer someone a max deal

We Knicks fans warned you, because we were watching the games, while other fanbases were actually buying the hype and used it to pile on the Knicks... the irony.

This is a Richardson too far.
