I like women's basketball, its a different game, its more about skill than the mens game is because there isnt as large of a gap in the athleticism of the players on average. Scheme, execution, decision making, physicality and mental toughness are more important than.... "oh kawhi just gonna rip through wings until you get somone strong enough to check him. "
Good post, thanks. I think it would be good for everyone to see and I hope they push for it. Totally understand your point.
That being said, Delle donne ,Candace, brianna stewart could have played professional mens basketball if that was her goal from 11 years old and I have a reasonable case as to why. We have seen stiff big men who cant handle the ball and move their feet for generations, right? but all of a sudden in 2020 they can dribble pass shoot and switch out on guards better, but they lack the post skills on yesterdays bigs by and large.
Delle donne is 6'5, long arms, had good first step before her injury, footwork, lights out shooter.... but she developed as a big, kinda like dirk. Doug mcdermott played very similar to her when he was at creighton, but his role in the nba is very different because he doesnt have a size advantage and it took him a long time to adjust, but he did, he comes off screens, and shoots, or dribbles a little, a lot less shot creation.
Why cant Delle donne do this? There have been a handfull of guys in the NBA with her level of athleticism, if she played mens aau, developed a role from then, I dont see what would stop her from making it if she is already this insanely skilled. She could do what JJ redick did on the clippers, or what peyton pritchard does now on boston? why not?
