Lance Stephenson though he had the opposite effect for me he was an entertainer lol. Most of time it isn’t a good look but with Lance I didn’t know what was going to happen next but for sure was entertaining, dude posterized a referee by accident

Surprised nobody called up Damon Jones yet, dude's awkward ego outbursts were hilarious back in the day. He was like 6ix-9ine level ego-to-talent.

I think we need to factor in salary plus ego to talent ratio.

Someone like Marcus Smart has huge ego but his 12 Million dollar salary makes him tolerable.

Same goes with lance Stevenson. Annoying but he made 4 million only. Tolerable.

As a follower of the Jazz, both Trey Burke and Trey Lyles thought they were god’s gift to basketball when drafted. The couldn’t understand that a poor work ethic and a big ego didn’t translate to playing time and success on the court.

Doesn't fit your criteria but worth a mention...

D-Wade announcing, promoting and organizing his own farewell tour
I honestly thought he retired two seasons before that.

One of the most creditworthy things ever and the worst part was that it lasted eight months

Jonathan Bender, 5th overall pick by the Pacers in 1999. One of the biggest draft busts of all time.

After he retired (from his 1st NBA stint) in an interview he said he wondered how great he could have been if it weren't for injuries.

In actuality he was a low skilled low IQ player who had good size and athleticism. He came into the NBA draft riding on the wave of previous high school players who had made successful jumps into the NBA (KG, Kobe Bryant, and Tracy McGrady).

He came back for a 2nd stint in the NBA with the Knicks but it only proved that he was still a bad player.

Maxwell sure, even though he's been a pretty good twitter troll in the modern day. The guy definitely had a high opinion of himself.

Sprewell was a multiple time all-star and a 1x 1st team All NBA (even though it was when Jordan was on sabbatical). If you get past his feed his family quote, the guy was never one to really run his mouth. He was a pretty quiet guy overall before his buddy Webber had his falling out and left GS.

I mean Monte Ellis I don't think was good when he compared himself to wade so you can definitely say him. Pretty inefficient and bad defender for a good player.

I beg to differ wrote:Jay Williams was super arrogant during his bad rookie season. But it's a tiny sample.

He was even more arrogant in his riding skills on his motorcycle, which spelled the end of his career. Plenty of friends were telling him not to ride that thing but he ignored all the warnings, not to mention the fact that his contract prohibited him from riding in the first place.

The Bulls were very, very generous to pay him the rest of his rookie contract. They were under no obligation to do so.

EDIT: I don't remember any stories about MJ riding bikes during his playing career, but Williams remembered otherwise.

I had seen photos of Michael Jordan riding all kinds of exotic motorcycles as a player and remember thinking how badass he looked.

I would be lying if I said no one warned me about motorcycles. They did. But the more everyone told me I shouldn't be riding a bike, the more I wanted to ride. We all know how that works.
