On a side note, those three have great nicknames that are well suited to their play/situation.

Posts that aged well.
Mvp scored 38pts.
What was his shooting efficiency on that too, 75%/50%/100% must generate a pretty crazy high overall efficiency?

With the way the circumstances have went and with how insanely awesome Jokic has been for Denver all year long, I don't see how he doesn't win it. He's earned it and it's a well deserved honor for him. Great player.
Not only did he have a shot, he would have won. The media's first choice clearly wasn't Jokic, regardless of production.

I am sure that he/she will hug his real-size doll of Embiid and spill some tears.

Many people keep underrating MVPkic, but he just keeps playing better and better.

Another point of fact, Jokic has never been swept in the first round. Embiid though......?

Has an MVP ever went into the playoffs missing 3 of their top 4 guards including the starting guards one of which is the team's 2nd best player?
I don't want to hear these excuses. James Harden has won series with MASH units in the past. And Lebron James won Finals games without the 2nd and 3rd best player, on a what was basically a just a 3 man team to begin with. If you're the MVP, go win some games against a 6th seed in the 1st round.
Nice hot take.

When are they supposed to announce the MVP?

My man, the playoff is on for another two months, right? Is it after the first round, or when?

Usually it's near the end of the first round/before the second round.

Anyone think the last 3 playoffs have shown that Jokic is likely to be an elite scorer if he didn't have to playmake so much?
36 PPG on 63% FG. And Nurkic is probably the best one on one post defender in the West playoffs.

Give me The Joker, sorry for Steph, he was the best maybe, but 8th place doesn't make you get the title.

Maybe I am weird but why is the discussion around a regular season award focusing on post-season success?
the times, they are a-changing

Prolly cause its weird that MVPs are always decided leaving out the most important part of the season. As if the regular season is somehow more worthy or something/

Has there ever been an 8th seed with a top 3 MVP candidate?
Curry is great, but I don't see how he's top 3.
Luka, Dame, etc...I think another player deserves his spot.
Curry doesn't have the worst talent around him. Not great, but serviceable.

So make a playoff MVP award.
Regular season is a long grind with many variables and to sustain a high level for a long period of time deserves it's own award.
Staying motivated and fighting through adversity all season is something to be admired.
