Embiid usually roasts him, but Capela is definitely a step of over most of the centers of the league. Capela's verticality can give Embiid problems. He gets a ton of oops off the pick and roll.
Ya, it's hard for me to make a prediction until I find out about Embiids injury. Healthy playing all games, I'll give it to the Sixers. Misses even 1 or 2 games I think hawks take it. This big man matchup will def be crucial to the outcome of the series.

Yeah calling Embiid Glassbiid, aren't facts, but w/e.

Well it is fact. Players like Anthony Davis and Embiid are glass. Glass Davis doesn't quite roll off the tongue as well though. Barkley gave him a nice nickname though. I'll call him street clothes from now on.

Davis is far more injury prone that Embiid. Embiid has actually been quite healthy since his initial foot fracture. Mensicus injuries are a lot less serious than acl tendonosis, and etc that AD has. But okay, if you want to just **** on players in this thread then go for it. Guess what though, even with a "glass Embiid" he'll run circles around Julius "Most Improved" Randle and the Knicks.

This will be a series...

Hawks are legit good and have like 8 legit guys + a star. They also matchup well vs Embiid.

If Embiid is healthy/playing well I think its 76ers in 6. Maybe 5 if full strength.

However if Embiid is unable to play or hobbled I could see the Hawks winning in 6.

Not so fun fact. I just did the match. Since being drafted Embiid has played <30% of the 76ers total minutes. For comparison LeBron has played >70% of the available minutes since being drafted. Embiid is great but an all time 'what if' talent.

It’s the Sixers medical staff so stay tuned for injury updates like “Joel Embiid (knee) is questionable for Game 1 to eternity and beyond”

If Embiid is hobbled at all and we can avoid getting slaughtered from the 3pt line then it should be a tight series. Safe money is probably Sixers in 6, though.

Small ball Sixers will have two huge non shooters with Simmons and Thybulle. Capela can sag off of Simmons and Trae can guard Thybulle.

Even with Joel back he will want to take more jumpers which helps out the Hawks defense. Harris has been the sixers 2nd best scorer so I'd expect Hunter to get that assignment. He has to make him work on defense.

Trae vs. Thybulle
Bogi vs. Curry
Hunter vs. Harris
Collins vs. Green
Capela vs. Simmons

Atlanta is a different team since McMillan took over. They are on a nice roll since then.

However, Philadelphia is a different animal. Their defense alone will be a very tough opponent for Atlanta.

I'm going with Phila in this series, even without Embiid. If Embiid plays, there might even be a gentleman's sweep.

If Embiid doesn't play, this series goes 6-7 games and would be a near coin flip in my mind. The Hawks are a very underrated team. They've been dominant since McMillan took over as coach. I don't have the numbers on me but I'd guess top 3 win% since the happened. Their roster is deep and well rounded. Trae is the type of guard that can give us fits, so even with Embiid I think ATL steals a game at least.

Chance the Sixers win the series without Embiid: 52%
Chance the Sixers win the series with healthy Embiid: 89%

I still dont get how Embiid is only "day to day" with a meniscus tear. Can someone medically educated explain?

There's been some speculation today that the meniscus tear found in the mri is old and Embiid has been playing on it.

It's hard to say with how close to the vest Philly is playing the extent of his injury. But if it is an old tear that would seem to give the feeling he can continue to play on it once the inflammation goes down.

Philly in 6. Too much playoff experience up and down the roster.

Im going with Hawks in 7, based on Joel not playing 2-3 games and playing hurt the ones he plays
Atlanta has shooting firepower in Young, Bogdanovic, Huerter and Gallinari
Sixers have Green and Curry

Hawks in 5. Embiid isn't going to go the first two games and they are going to be down big. When he comes back he won't be 100 percent and they split the next two. I have the Hawks winning 4-1.
