He would actually be a great fit next to Luka.

Harry Garris wrote:Whoever signs him needs to do so with the expectation that he's a backup combo guard to handle some of the scoring load when the starters are out. A Lou Williams/Jordan Clarkson type. If you ask him to do anything more than that he's likely going to struggle and disappoint like he did in OKC, Detroit, and on the Clippers during the regular season.

How much is that kind of player worth? Clarkson got $51 million over 4 years last offseason and that was like the most this kind of player has ever gotten paid so that's probably his upper limit.

I'd just be worried about signing Reggie Jackson to a huge contract personally. There are so many horror stories of guys who weren't very good and then had a hot shooting stretch for a couple playoff series and got paid only to end up being a massive bust on their next contract.

Hes been battling through a lot of knee hip foot problems, so the back is probably next. I think he stays in LA one more year and then they extend him since they will have his bird rights. I still think they need a better floor general, but the guy has been undeniably good for them.

In 15 playoff games played, 17.3/3.0r/3.3a with .503/.423/.929 split. Big shot after big shot.

Since game 2 vs Dallas May 25, this guy has TWO gameS where he failed to hit above 37%, when he took only 2- 3pt shots and game 1 vs the Suns where he still made 4 3pointers.
I've seen the best shooters like Miller, Ray Allen shoot the lights out for a couple of games then go cold, in fact Ray Allen after that hot game 2 vs the Lakers, shot below 23% in 5 games.
Reggie on the other hand for 16 playoff games has hit 37.5% 13 times in 16 games, when he took more than 3 3pt attempts, that's 15 of 16 games.
Yes, I remember Danny Green going off vs Miami but he also shot poorly vs Portland in the first series.

Yeah, he's going for his last big contract. Clippers probably can't afford him. The Knicks, Mavs, and maybe Charlotte seem like really good fits.

Captain Ballmer wrote:We don't have his full bird rights, only early bird. If Kawhi max. extension happens our salary cap will reach to above the tax apron. That means, we can only extent his early bird rights with %100 percent increase of his current salary which is 2.4 million USD. (3/16 m USD) I don't think he'd be thrilled with that offer unfortunately.

Damn that's brutal. This could be a problem.

Honestly with the emergence of Terrance Mann and Kennard playing well when it's right the situation for the latter, it's gonna be tough plus they need to find a way to keep Batum as his presence on the floor as a more mobile Boris Diaw who is a jack of all trades type of player is huge and quite frankly the difference maker that's allowed Lue to play the 5 out where the Clips were able to effectively neutralize Gobert and the Dallas bigs not to mention the ball doesn't stick in his hands and he's a smart passer with high BB IQ.

Good thing for Batum is by the time Charlotte's done paying his deal along with this current deal he'll have made over $175M in his career and he's only 33. While I'd love to keep Jackson, if push came to shove and the cap forced them to make a tough decision, I'd rather try and find a way to keep Batum 1st. With Jackson, they could give him a 3 year deal for less money and give him a P/O at maybe 10-12M/yr.

People forget he already got a big 5 year 80m contract in 2015 but was a total disappointment.

I really don't see him getting more than 6-8m a year.

I think they Clippers offer him the max money they can offer (roughly 10 million a year) but try to cut a year since he's already 31. So 3/30

I don’t know who would be foolish enough to give him more than 10 for a good playoff run. I get it if this has been him all season but it’s essentially a quarter of the season of play getting you 15M. Making him a prominent core member.
Great play so far. This is exactly what his skillset is capable of but we also know it has gone away for some time.

If the Clippers lose this series and can't keep Jackson, they might want to make a run at Spencer Dinwiddie in a sign and trade with Brooklyn if possible. Dinwiddie reportedly wants to go home to Los Angeles and he fits a big need there as a playmaking guard.

A trade centered around Beverley and Ibaka might make sense for both teams. Serge reunites with Harden and Durant and Clippers get the playmaking point guard they have been missing the last two years.

I'd say the absolute ceiling to his payday is a Bertan's type contract, and that might be a stretch considering his injury history and age.

The floor would be a Derrick Rose type contract, making "ok" money on a shorter contract.

What's left of his cartilage will be overpaid, and he will promptly get injured and retire.

He'd be great alongside Simmons or Harden, or back in the Clippers AAU style offense.

He'd be great on the Mavs IMO. And they have more than enough cap space to sign him.

If I'm them I go after Cam Payne instead. He's just as good (right now) and younger than Reggie.
