Victor was easily best player in recent U19 and he is 2 years younger than most players who played there. He is already better than Holmgren and he is 17. I dont think Victor will be all timer, cause his offense is limited, but he looks like all time great defender.

P.S. I will plug my utube mix of him that I made few weeks ago, hope you enjoy it (I purposely started the video with him guarding guards at perimeter after switch, to showcase that he can hold his own left ''on the island'') :

I'm not sure why everyone is saying Wembanyama, he looks like a clearly worse athlete and ballhandler. The extra height is actually a negative rather than a positive to me as well, nobody taller than Kareem has ever had a long, healthy career.

He could eventually end up being better, since he's still quite a bit younger, but based on their current ability he's got a long way to go.

Chet looks like another Porzingis.

I think I watched your Garuba video a bit back. Good job.

If he doesn't have similar health issues, that's a pretty damn good player.

Close. His ceiling is a better Porzingis. Better shooter. More offensively skilled. Better ball handler and passer. Better defensive instincts.

Bench press is bench press not sports.

Core and balance >>>> big biceps.

Have you really never done a bench press in your life? The biceps are not really involved...

Nope and I played sports fine (better then the average person).
We had a national academy trainer that would emphasis the core and balance over everything else. As a team (2nd best in state) we all improved noticeably. He said himself you lose a lot of your athleticism when your body is unconsciously/consciously correcting itself when moving around it wastes energy. Helps mitigate injuries too because you naturally favor one side of the body over the other same with your eyes. Over or under compensation.

He studied biometrics and all that good stuff. Yoga is wonderful for sports players imo. Weights should be short and heavy or long and light (technique).

Stretching is one of most undervalued aspects of the whole thing. I’m 5”9.5” on a good day without stretching I couldn’t get close to the rim. After a 15 min routine and a steady paced jog I can get to the rim I don’t train specifically for it. I was lucky was born highly flexible (both parents) with loose hips.

John Wall is one of most natural runners I’ve seen in basketball. His running gait is classy asf!

Victor.

Has a better frame with wider shoulders, already a pro, 2 years younger and will play center in the NBA. I don't know what position Chet will play in the NBA, and at 19 he is really kind of behind where he should be physically.

Chet has the look of a guy who'll be featured on a ton of posters.

You can body Victor and get him a few feet off you, but you better go up strong and dunk it after or he’ll get you anyway. Fun prospect.

Still prefer Banchero, though.

This isnt even close. Victor is the guy. Chets just the best prospect in whats going to be a weak draft class. 2023 is going to be an awesome class.

He’s very clearly bigger and a better athlete.

Idk where people see a great athlete in Chet. He is slow as hell, I think his handles make people think he’s faster than he is. Go watch how Victor recovers to close out on perimeter shooters or contest shots. He covers ground way quicker.

For those that watched the U-19, what made Victor the best player in the tournament? His efficiency seems pedestrian for someone with his physical advantages.

I don't know what you and others are watching, because Wembanyama looks like he is stuck in molasses. His offensive moves look like they're in slow motion and most of his defensive plays are just through his pure size, as his explosiveness is lacking.

Again, he's not even close to developed so he'll keep improving. But for now, I have no freaking clue how people are seeing such a great athlete in this kid right now. He's quite a ways away.

Wembanyama probably has a higher ceiling but I see Chet as more of a sure thing. Who the better prospect is depends on what you value more.

The OP missed probably the most astonishing stats. During the U19, Victor averaged 5.7 blocks per game. 5.7!!!

You just hope he doesn't grow any taller to be honest. Guys who are over 7'4, just end up having wonky careers.
