The least valuable info you can glean from anything reported is from an anonymous sports scout.

"According to Bleacher report an unnamed scout said" = meaningless click bait.
I'd like to see him go be a poor man's Kyrie for Luka in Dallas. That would be inteeresting.
I like Garland better too but just because his teammates like him better doesn't mean he's a better player. They want their #s too. Maybe Sexton will take a secondry role when there is actually a better player on the roster.

I really like the idea of him with Luka. Good shout

6'1" high usage chucker who doesn't make others around him better and is a major defensive liability. Is he even better than Dillon Brooks? I'm not sure. That said, like Brooks and Lou Williams, he can get hot and carry an offense for an offensively challenged team even though most of it is just because they're given the green light for some reason despite obviously being net negatives. I honestly can't think of a single team that should want Sexton. Maybe a team that knows it's tanking and lets him be a tank commander and someone they can flip at the deadline for a team hammered by injuries? There's not many of those teams any longer though. Someone will really need to be desperate to pay him

hes a 100mil expensive 6th man but worth it because he can lit up 25ppg in 30 minutes ala jordan clarkson role.

I don't buy that his teammates hate him. I can buy that some of his teammates are frustrated because he's a score first guy.

i think that was a poor choice of words based on how scouts talk about players privately in general. I think he meant in the sense that the stupidity sexton does drives teammates mad sometimes..... its not like this is some unfair criticism of him. as for him saying it anonymously, go see what larry nance thinks about kevin loves defense anonymously, probably a good chunk of the things that come in reports from the media come from players themselves.
The source here is a scout within another organization so I think it's a fair question as to how he'd come across that information given the very specific language he used. Is he projecting that he'd hate Sexton? Is he extrapolating based on seeing a couple instances of players getting frustrated? LBJ has gotten visibly frustrated with almost every teammate he's ever had on the court, it doesn't follow that he's hated them.

I don't see Sexton as being a bad fit with Garland as a hot take though. The front office has had the same concerns. Height alone makes the pairing suspect for defensive reasons.

This is a bad take. He's way too efficient to be considered a chucker and has a far, far more dynamic offensive game than Brooks.

This kind of feels smear-level to me. It’s possible to go hard on someone for being a “ballhog” or “chucker” without going after their character.

I like him next to Luka long-term if they do ship him out. I do believe Jason Terry was a lot like Sexton early in his career and that turned out ok.

You thinking Dillon Brooks is a net negative shows you do not know what you are talking about

Put Sexton on a team surrounded by offensively challenged elite defenders and I think he becomes a net positive. Especially if you can let him go nuts and chuck unlimited shots as 6th man. One team where he’d fit like a glove is the Raptors.

As much of an asswipe as that anonymous scout is, Chris Mannix is a bigger bitch for writing a character assassination article on a young player. It always feels like these writers know what they want to write and who to call to support that sentiment with a thinly veiled source comment. If I was to write an article about how Chris Mannix is a loser, I'd call his ex-wife and she'd tell me he has a micro penis. Its an easy job.

What's with the all the "he better give us his real name!" nonsense. Does anonymity make what they observed less true? Facts are facts, regardless if there's a name attached so people can attack them. In fact, it's the inverse - anonymity is more likely to produce honest opinions because they don't fear the backlash from the team/teammates/fans.

If someone asked you to criticize your wife privately and publicly, which version will be more honest?

Sexton is not a starter on a contending team. He's a small scoring guard that doesn't defend and doesn't have a huge impact despite his scoring numbers. Any team that offers him a max or near max is wrong. Ideally, he's a super 6th man.

This is a plant coming from the cheapskate Cleveland FO trying to soften the fans up for when they inevitably let Sexton walk for nothing.

He’s not worth the max, but that’s not why Cleveland won’t pay him. They’re cheap.

"None of his teammates like him" as a scouting report is hilarious. Going to start all replies on the GB with: "None of your fellow poster like you." Such a checkmate move (if you are 8 years old).

But what "facts" do you see here? This is just an opinion from an unnamed source. We can't verify Sexton playing for stats as a fact. We haven't verified "none of his teammates liking him". We can't verify he's an ****. Those are all opinions, and so is liking Garland more. A lot of people out there agree with some of these opinions, especially the preference of Garland part. But there's no "facts are facts" here.

I think fans are just annoyed with the low quality journalism of this piece. Lots of people are unsatisfied with the basis of an article being the opinion of an unnamed source. I think it's fine to criticize that. Not so much the giVe uS uR nAmE part, I agree that's silly, but the article just isn't hitting as having any substance for lots of fans responding in this thread. I like it when fans can identify the potential spin and agenda of any piece of media. This article definitely deserves some eye-rolling scrutiny.

(I don't disagree with the anonymity/honesty part of your post so I didn't quote it).
