The new rules suck. Nba need to start calling fouls

I actually think more still has to be done, this rule is a great step as the players were making a mockery of the game by deliberately drawing fouls, the uptick in flopping was making the league seem like a joke. In the NHL if you “dive” or “flop” trying to draw a penalty you get a 2 minute penalty for diving, the NBA should do the same and hand out technical fouls for flopping.

lol calling what we are watching prison basketball. The nba is just trying to give the defense its balls back after half a decade of letting the offense run wild. A physical game is better and will lead to less injuries imo. More bruising tho.

People say players like harden, Trae, luka etc are baiting to get fouls called. I always saw that as being crafty. If u fall for it then play better more disciplined defense.

It's kinda like adding a rule to prevent crossovers cause defensive player fell for a hesi and got crossed.
Is that much different from baiting for fouls?

One thing I do agree that needs to be removed is the stopping in spot when players are behind you . I think that's really obvious. But driving to basket with full stretched arms hoping to get hacked for a foul is fine by me.

Because the defender isn’t defending, nor is he initiating contact.

Hardens BS antics goes like this:
- Drive into the defender engage one of his hands

- It got to a point where the defender would just put his hands straight like Kuzma did and Harden when all else fails falls over to sell contact.

- Even saw him more than a few times when the defender wasn’t even close to him on a drive stick his hand to grab the defender arms/shirt like here man give me contact I want fouls lol.

Dudes been found out now gotta adjust its nonsense stuff.

They all do it. Smart and Lowry are top tier actors the rest amateur to poor at best.

I might be in the minority but defenders are now getting away with murder and actually bad defense. No one wants to watch 2004 prison basketball. Bring back the old rules. Sorry these are fouls play better defense, come at me!

On the contrary, I 100% prefer the late 90's/early 00's NBA. Loved the Gary Payton, Bruce Bowen, Rodman style defense. It actually forced the offense to earn points as opposed to flopping and foul baiting. Smashmouth basketball is much more entertaining IMO than the unnecessary bitchassery of Harden, Trae and Steph.

I think the NBA has overcorrected a bit. Defenders are being really physical inside and some of those deserve to be fouls. The other thing I'm noticing is continuations are completely broken, which started a few years ago.

There are numerous posts by Trae/Curry fans and a couple Hardens sprinkled in all decrying the lack of bailout calls for their favorite floppers.

I'm a Bulls fan and Zach Lavine has been fouled with no call several times this season, he whines but then he takes the ball harder to the rim. Basketball shouldn't be about who can trick the refs the best or who can flop the best.

A general rule, if you wouldn't do it in a pickup game, don't do it.

There's a difference between being crafty, and something being literally impossible to defend. For example, off-ball arm hook coming off screens for shooting.

I'm pro removing obvious blatant ones.
But they are allowing pushing players at the basket, jumping at players body on jump shots. Etc. I think it's going backwards for NBA.

Harden Luka and Trae don't got championships, if they were unguardable, we would at least see them in the finals, no?
Good defensive possessions were so satisfying to watch considering how incredibly gifted and crafty NBA superstars nowadays.

I think its 100% better with the game getting slowed down less. Super frustrating to watch someone like Harden go to the line 20 times in a game when he is initiating the contact and the benefit of the call goes to the offensive player. If a defender creates the contact than for sure 100% call a foul.... but no more of letting offensive players go out and initiate contact to get to the line a bunch.

Sure, and yet it doesnt change the fact that we dont need BS flops being rewarded anymore. I for one am ecstatic that emmy award winning acting is no longer being ruled as basketball. Go to broadway if you're looking to watch actors in a play for a couple of hours.

The worst ones are when the offensive player drives and falls over his own feet on the way to deliberately moving towards the defender then once on the ground putting their hands up looking at the ref with a wtf look on his face.

If I was a Ref I’d say “Your shoes need more grip” as I’m running back up the court trying to stay with the action up the other end.
