He's played like an All-Star the last two seasons. I thought he was on his way last year before he got injured.

He's played at an allstar level for 7 straight seasons. Ridiculous that he's never made it.

This year is his best chance. He is playing way better than Dame and if the Blazers are in a playoff spot by selection time, he could take Dame’s usual place on the team.

McCollum was on track to be an All-Star last season. Unfortunately he got injured pretty early. He would have been a much more worthy injury replacement than Mike Conley and Devin Booker.

Agreed about Booker, but Conley deserved it last year. Probably his best career year.

Over who?

Even this year, with many underperforming so far, he's still behind Curry, Paul, Morant, Mitchell, Booker and Doncic if you count him. Murray, Conley and SGA could well be ahead of him too. Lillard should pass him soon.

I mean, I doubt he takes a step forward in his 30s and the younger generation is coming up.

Nah, Booker 24/4/4 on 60% TS for a very good team before the AS break last season. McCollum managed less than that in his best season ever last year. At best you could make an argument that the cases were vaguely even (in the hypothetical that CJ didn't miss more than half of the pre-AS season), don't see a clear cut case that CJ would've been the obvious better choice.

Nah you're right he probably wouldn't have been. Didn't realize Booker's TS% was that high last year.

If choice come down between him and Lillard this season, he should be an All Star.

He might get a mercy one for being on the fringes for so many years, sorta like a lifetime achievement award. I'm sure it's been done for other players.

If he was in the east, he would have already been one.

If the Blazers are a top six or so team during the all-star break and Lillard is still looking rough, he has a decent chance to get it this year.

Are you sure? I know he's behind but Stef, but he's been better than Spidey, CP3, and neck-and-neck with Book and Luka. Ja is on planet Sum-ish and is all but locked iof he keeps it up. At this stage hard not say CJ has doesn't a chance...

How is 22/4/4 better than 26/5/4 (Mitchell) and 24.5/6/5 (Booker) on close to the same efficiency?

CP3 assists are going to give him attention, plus he's Chris Paul.

Luka will pull ahead. He also can't expect to be neck and neck with Luka or CP3 and get in. All those guys are ahead of him in people's mind and Lillard will turn the corner. McCollum would have to go on a tear.

That being said, he has a chance of getting in if someone gets hurts like Conley last year. Will he get the same push from the media?

If Portland finishes with a top 3 seed he will get in, but without that Portland only gets 1 all-star and we all know who that’s gonna be, even with the poor shooting performance to start the season.

Still always was in Lillard's shadow. Despite being very consistent, he didn't have those gaudy numbers, amazing scoring nights, game winners or highlight plays that Lillard has had. Plus,, the team wasn't really good enough to have multiple all stars, even Lillard didn't make it in 2016 and 2017.

What I always noticed about CJ though was that Lillard being injured didn't have much of an impact on them during the regular season because CJ would simply turn it up.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Maybe if he goes to play in China before he retires from basketball.

No this year, not with a TS% = .488.

CJ's best season was 2016-17 when he averaged 23.0 ppg, shot .421 from 3 and led the league in FT% at .912. Lillard averaged 27.0 ppg on the same TS% (.585 for CJ vs .585 for Dame) and didn't make the all star team due to POR's mediocre record. POR finished the season as th 8th seed in the West at 41-41, but was only 23-33 at the All Star break.

So, in CJ's best season ever, he was the 2nd best player on a crappy team where the team's best player didn't make the All Star team and that was 6 years ago. I think that ship has sailed.
