No.

Roy was on track to be a superstar with a dynamite handle, no holes in his game and the clutch gene.

Simons can barely dribble and can’t run an offense.

He can shoot though.

He's better than Lillard was at age 22 this is without question. Now, Lillard was a rookie in the NBA at that age and Simons has had more time in the NBA, but until this season he was playing much less minutes off the bench for the first two years he was in the NBA he barely played, last year he was a key bench player this is the first year he is getting starter minutes and only since Lillard went down.

Very underrated passer also he has clearly learned a lot working with CJ and Lillard over the years.

Unless he turns around his defense, he is a slightly positive impact player.

He is still only 22 so maybe he takes more steps but right now giving him the max would be a big mistake.

You literally couldn’t be more wrong about his defense if you tried.

Read on Twitter
?s=21

The Blazers are a better defensive team when he’s on the floor and he’s second only to Nurkic in that category.

Maybe research before you hot take there guy.

doesnt surprise me, i tuned in 1 night recently and saw him picking up a guy from full court. looked like a willing defender as your stat would demonstrate.

right now his ceiling appears to be making lilliard expendable. which is a very high but not calling him an allstar . Still his recent production is star level which can easily be a top 10 pointguard in a conference.

ya'll are dragging it. they have comparable age 22 seasons and play (played) for the traiblazers. it's not that serious.

You made a superficial comparison. Their games are nothing alike.

Saying Simons can barely dribble is so disrespectful and wrong.

I’ve watched most of his games since he was drafted and it’s really not.

He is at his best when someone else brings the ball up and gets him shots, though he can manufacture shots off the dribble and has a quick release.

He gets into trouble when he tries to play point, as his iffy handle is a serious weakness and his athleticism does not seem to have much in-game impact.

That’s as charitable as I can be. Any team trying to run him as lead guard is going to lose a lot of games.

I'm a blazer fan and watched most of ants games. his handle isn't kyrie or cj and his iso game is still work in progress. right now he's limited to step 3s and occasional poor man's utep2step Tim Hardaway cross. but his 3pt shot is killer and he makes them both open and creating his own.

he's improved SIGNIFICANTLY from prior year though in all areas. I can see him putting up 24 and 7 on a bad team. or if Dame leaves I think he can put up 21 and 7 depending on how much freedom he gets.

Maybe he isn’t the type of player to win a ton of games but he strikes me as the type of player that will help you be “in” a bunch of games and that’s a great start. Maybe to the chagrin of the Blazers fans(potentially hoping for a high pick?) he’s 6-3 as a starter and while the Blazers beat some bad teams, it’s a step in the right direction.

It’s waaaaaay too soon to label him as a losing player and he’s just now learning how to win as a lead player.

Portland made a mistake this past off-season not using a Bill Belichek philosophy of trading a player a year early rather than late. Portland should have traded Dame and CJ and began a new direction with Simon as the starter. Now Dame and CJ have decreased value and this team is lottery bound anyway.

We're five years away from telling. For every Stephon Marbury, there's a Michael Carter-Williams.

His potential is to be able to connect his skill to the dormant athleticism he has from not being able to finish or break guys down easily.

I feel like this is a result of him being a late bloomer athletically, then not paying much before he got to the league, then playing behind two insanely skilled ball handlers. He looks like he’s running drill on the floor, he just needs time and reps. He actually Looks a lot like Dame as a young player

I always say don't overpay guards, there is a major supply out there. Just look at this guy.

He's a mircowave, Lou Williams type of player. Would be perfect in a career 6th man role.

I’d love for Orlando to make a run for him this off-season. He’s a local guy too.
