He hurt his back sitting on his ass for all these months, because he's an unprofessional jagoff who didn't dare keep in shape while he was holding out and not honoring his contract.

I like the RealGM news headline and Nash comment "Simmons unable to do anything on the court", it's maybe a bit blunt but also a good summation.

Stress causes muscle/back tightness.

Unfortunately Simmons has gotten into his own head and has now turned a molehill into a mountain.

His injury is real since he had an epidural a couple days ago to relieve pain

You can fake an injury and agree to take a localized pain relief injection. If he actually has an off-season surgery, then I'll 100% believe the injury is real. But an injection doesn't prove anything.

It's just so convenient. "Great, sign me from this team that isn't paying me and I'll help your championship push. Ooooh, wait, now that you did sign me, my back hurts and I can't play or practice. Heh. We go again?"

He’s waiting for the league to remove the 3pt line before he will play

It's impossible to tell with him. I think he very clearly has had a back injury in the past and dealt with mental health stuff. The problem is he and his representation have used both excuses, with very suspect timing, during a contentious trade request. It's worth giving him the benefit of the doubt now that we're past the trade request but you never know with him.

He's taking epidurals. He's hurt.

As for the constant sneering at his mental health, just shows the prehistoric attitude of a heck of a lot of sports fans.

You're right. If anything he should be more coddled.

Haha you actually think the team is agreeing to fake his injury and give a healthy guy epidural injections?

I dont think anyone would fake a slipped disc to receive an injection to the spine and no doctor would agree to that without an exam so I doubt hes faking a back injury

"After taking part in initial workouts after joining the Nets, Simmons has been shut down due to back soreness. Nash said he didn't remember if Simmons showed any back issues during those initial workouts."

Nash, I loved you as a player, but this is absolute BS.

Fortunately for Brooklyn they are good enough to win the championship without him. Great man defender he may be, but they're probably better off without him as well, given the likelihood of hack-a-Simmons in the playoffs and the constant distractions/nonstop focus on him by the media and fans.

Not an epidural, noone in their right mind would get an injection into their spine if it wasn't necessary. Even if it is relatively safe, like any medical procedure it carries its own risk of side effects & complications. Have ya'll seen the needles they use for epidurals? lol

It is very likely at this point being sidelined all season paired with not staying in shape and taking care of his body has caused some back issues for Simmons.

So those thinking he's taking it and having unnecessary epidural....

You do realise there is a very real risk of paralysis from epidural, right? So he's risking that to fake an injury?

I'm not saying the team, I'm saying Ben Simmons. You're the team doctor, a player comes in saying he's got back pain. Scans don't show anything (he had them weeks ago). If you wanted to fake an injury, a back injury would be the go-to one, because it can be a million things an no one ever gets to the bottom of it...

Right, so where are we left with this one? Shouldn't epidurals be a bit more of a talking point (not just in NBA context) if there really was a "very real risk of paralysis"? Keep your arguments real, man. The guy had some sort of a shot, that apparently did nothing, for he is indefinitely unavailable and no doctor seem to be able to tell what's going on.

I'm not a Ben Simmons fan at all (yes I'm aware he's on my team) but the constant doubting of this back injury regarding him is quite frankly pathetic and sad. People out here really think there's a conspiracy and that he's lying about the whole thing, when this has actually been diagnosed by the Nets medical/performance staff.
