We have great character guys who constantly get minutes (But are scrubs and do not add value on the court) and guys with bad attitudes that obviously have talent but are shunned, and usually never get another contract. This even extends to GM's (Hinkie) and even owners.

I don't follow Kanter's off court antics very much but I see he has spoken against things the NBA does not stand with, so he is being blackballed. It is unfortunate for him but what did he expect? This is how the NBA is under Adam Silver.

ir he was moderately useful i may see that angle

not with kanter, dude is outright a huge liability even as a bench player

also his off court activism started well before he ended teamless

Carmelo didnt even have a obvious conspiracy angle for why he didnt have a team (like lin race or enes outspoken stuff) and still went jobless for a while

Carmelo was not washed though. He is still in the NBA years after people reportedly said he was done. His name was dragged through the mud and he was made to falsely be a scapegoat.

Comes with too much baggage for an end-of-the-bench player. It's a distraction when your team is trying to win a championship.

my point with Carmelo is that he doesnt have a conspiracy angle that would explain a "black out" from the league (as the theories about lin race or kanter polítical views getting them out of the league)
it was just people though he was washed

lin and kanter are a lot more washed up than Carmelo ever could have been so i am unsure why anyone is surprised

if it was not for kanter outspokeness/polítical activism nobody would bat an eye about him being out of the league

he just is not good, or more accurately, his defensive weakness make him a terrible player despite his skill and size

It's an unpopular sentiment these days, but sometimes you're not a victim, you're just incompetent.

Before Boston traded him he was just playing horrible ball. Yes, he was still good at getting offensive boards, but then he would miss the putback - then get another offense rebound off his miss - and miss the putback again - then get another offensive rebound of his second miss - and miss the putback again! You can only watch a guy (especially an end-of-the-bench player) miss so many shots before you realize that he has to go.

For what it's worth, Enes Freedom's scoring fell off a cliff this year. 15.5 points per 100 is an off the graph career-low, and his ability to draw fouls dried up a bit too. The rebounding is still solid.

Normally I'd assume this was due to a drastic role change, since he's only 29. But Enes' game is all about punching the gaps, dominating the offensive glass etc. It's not like he needs plays called for him or shots spood fed to him. He's been a strong finisher inside, his whole career, but this year he's missed a ton of layups (53% inside 3 feet vs. 66% on his career).

His value was always in giving offenses this free boost, but it came at the expense of team defense. If his new scoring rates are indicative of his ability, he's not worth the defensive disadvantage. I'm assuming he must have some injury issues since he's only 29.

Simply put, he's threatening the NBA's bottom line with his comments about LeBron and China in particular. So they'd rather just get rid of him.

He only said it because LeBron is certifiably an immoral coward. Got nothing to do with BBall. He's good at Ball. But a hypocrite in real life.

"I will not just shut up and dribble," James said. " So, thank you, whatever her name is. ... I get to sit up here and talk about what's really important "

Talk about what's really important, until it messes with his millions lmao.

I get the vibe that he wants to be Kaep here, but unlike Kaep who was providing average QB value when he left, EKF was not. He's an archetype that is hard to integrate in today's game. You really can only play him if you have excellent wing defense and dont need someone protecting the rim. He's also a complete black hole of a player, and one of the worst PnR defenders in the league.

I really hope he doesnt continue this narrative, it can really distract from his activism and give his critics something to point at. He's a fringe NBA player that finds himself on the wrong side of the fringe right now

The answer is Robert Williams. Bostons long time project that is paying off. I think people may not realize how important he is to that team. Kanter is a terrible defender and a black hole. Robert is a great defender and really good passer for a big. Bostons locker room struggles in the past have been from holding each other accountable and how much more upsetting would it be to pour your energy locking someone up to have kanter as a sliding door right after.

He’s in the awkward spot where he’s too old for a lottery team to give him minutes and his defense is too bad for any contending team to sign him. I can’t think of any team in the league who could use a guy like him.

Like, I would take Kelly Olynyk over him, and Kelly is still stuck in Detroit. That’s what the market is for an offensive big bench player.

Defense is half the game and he is terrible on that end.
