Oh they'll be in a great spot when he leaves them with nothing, though.

He’s going to take that max money.

Oh what a terrible trade for the Sixers.

if there's a futures market on D'Antoni coaching Philly next year, empty your 401k cuz barring an unlikely Finals run it feels inevitable.

If I'm a Sixers fan I'm worrying about anyone, even Embiid, resigning. Literally any NBA city, even Memphis or San Antonio, is more of a destination market than Philly.

Soooo we're all collectively rooting against Philly in the playoffs, right?

If Harden plays like he did last night against Detroit, they should be worried about giving him a huge contract.

Yes I would be concerned. He's an aging player on the decline. He's never risen to the occasion in pressure games even in his prime. And he's repeatedly worn out his welcome and failed to make it work with a series of superstar teammates and bailed on his previous teams. Lots of red flags here. But Philly kinda has to live with it and hope for the best.

Edit: I think I answered the opposite question lol. I think he will re-sign, but if I'm Philly I'm actually a little concerned about that.

i would trade harden this offseason regardless of winning a ring and shop joel too. process is over. morey needs to pull the trigger if he can get tatum and simmons level prospect and retool get younger and healthy.
According to the Simmons camp it's not just his mind gut his back. As Mike Tyson once said "It's Spinal"

I was thinking, "why would he resign? Season's not over yet."

Anyway, Philly has two top tier players and a couple of other good role players. They're not too far away from being able to compete. Get a new coach or at least some X and O savant assistants and sign Harden to a short deal. Totally worth a shot at seeing how the experiment works. Too early to scrap everything just yet.

This summer is a cap space desert, unless he wants to play in a podunk town like Orlando or San Antonio nobody can really afford him.

Wasn't it reported that one of the things he didn't like about playing in Brooklyn was the taxes?
If that's true, 'podunk' towns like Orlando or San Antonio, both in states without an income tax, might look pretty attractive.

Yet if he changes his mindset and becomes a 'vet chasing a ring', and willing to take a smaller role and contract, he becomes one of the most valuable signings to chase for contenders. He could run a bench unit for years.

note: i was tempted to put the green font on the above, as nothing tells us that he's that personality type at all, and he likely never will be until he knows that he can't command max money anymore. Until then he's chasing the $$ with whoever can show him the most money

Do you mean worried he won't re-sign, or that he will?
