Duncan isn’t a Top-10 player all time.

The only thing Steph Curry has over Kyrie Irving is shooting, Kyrie does everything else better and he hit the game winner in the finals against Curry, therefore he's a better player.....bonus one is that same thing can said for Lillard and he may be even up in the shooting department

Re: Most mind-boggling basketball comments you've heard from people
My son's former basketball coach. The guy was about 5"2 and very stocky and uncoordinated ( he actually looked a lot like Danny Davito), saying that he used to dunk the ball when he was younger.
As we get older, our "stories" of past achievements and abilities often get more and more embillished with age, but unless he went through one of the greatest transformations in the history of mankind, I don't think he ever got more than 6 inches off the ground.
To this day my son and I still get a nice chuckle when we recall him making this statement.
My son had another coach who claimed that he was a 75% three-point shooter (on high volume) when he was in college. Apparently this guy could have taught Curry a thing or two about shooting.

I've never understood the "player x is only good because of Y. Other than that he's inferior." I remember reading it with Shaq and his size. Now I read it with Curry* and his shooting.
Even if it was true that Curry was only good because of his extreme shooting ability, the stats overwhelmingly make clear he is better than Kyrie. Who gives a crap if Kyrie is better at some other things? there is no bonus points for aesthetic.
* Curry is better at a lot of things than Kyrie besides shooting. But even accepting it is true it is a meaningless statement.

as my late father used to say about his baseball playing days "the older I get the better I was."

My buddy (who knows more about basketball than me) told me that he thought Michael Kidd Gilchrist was a scottie pippen clone.

Irving is argubly flashier than Curry because he's more moves in his repertoire, that's it. However, flashier does not mean better; Paul George's game is flashier than Kawhi Leonard due to his fluidity, but no one in the world would choose PG over the Klaw.

Oh it is pure aesthetics. I know it. You know it. Everyone knows it. I don't get why people aren't comfortable just saying I like watching Player A over Player B even if Player B is better. Basketball is entertainment. You don't need to necessarily enjoy watch the best basketball players.
When I was a teenager, I loved watching NVE when he was on national tv. He was a shameless gunner and prone to extreme swings in level of play. So when you watched you didn't know if they were going to be the best scorer on the court or the worst. I never had any illusion he was better than Eddie Jones

He’s Karl Malone with point guard skills. One of a kind.

It was on this board and actually I believe that person said top 50 but it's still a ridiculous claim.

Didn't Iguodala say that Kyrie is a Top 25 all-time player? Definitely a candidate for most bizarre opinions.
"Wes, Hill, Ibaka, Allen, Nwora, Brook, Pat, Ingles, Khris are all slow-mo, injury prone ... a sandcastle waiting for playoff wave to get wrecked. A castle with no long-range archers... is destined to fall. That is all I have to say."-- FOTIS

Didn’t some guy say he’d rather have Omer Asik in “todays game” over Hakeem?

Yeah I love Lowry. I think he's underrated and one of the better players of the 2010s.
But top 50 of all time? Nah. Top 100? Probably.
