Long as its just Kyrie opting into his player option. Don't wanna get hard capped with the sign and trade or have to give up a lot of assets.

Neither. If I was the Lakers front Office,I would be trading Lebron James and Anthony Davis for youth/draft picks, keep Russell Westbrook, let his contact expire next season and start over. I don't see how ether trade would really benefit the Lakers seeing that they failed to even make the play-in tournment. Kryie Irving won't make them Championship contenders and really I could still see them failing to reach the playoffs with Kyrie. The Lakers problems extend well beyond just Russell Westbrook. The team plays no defense. A large portion of the Roster is too old to be very productive. Outside of Monk, they weren't a good 3pt shooting team neither.Anthony Davis himself is quite injury prone.Like there just way too many issues to suggest that any trade would make the Lakers any better than 7th/8th seed team play-in team.

The Hornets/Westbrook reporting has been amateur-level. Of course we can never rule out Charlotte making a bad decision, but the basic assumption that the Hornets must move Hayward to keep Bridges and avoid the luxury tax is simply not true.

The Hornets can also move Plumlee and/or Oubre, especially since Oubre's deal is not fully guaranteed, to avoid the tax. That would probably be both easier and less costly than getting a team to take on Hayward's remaining salary.

It's also not true that Hayward's deal will hamstring the Hornets moving forward. His contract comes off the books when Melo is up for his extension, so it will be a simple matter of not re-signing Hayward at that time to keep everything in order.

I doubt the Lakers do a Westbrook for Rozier + Hayward trade anyway simply because that would remove them from FA for the next couple of years. It's much more plausible that if LA can't acquire a star they would prefer to trade for guys on 1yr deals and then reload via free agency, as they have historically done. As it stands now Lebron and Westbrook both come off the books next summer and LA can add another star next to AD to kickstart their post-Lebron era. If they add Hayward and Rozier that option is gone.

Kyrie is a bit off, but this is a no brainer, and borderline disrespectful.

Î¥ou guys never learn, do you?
Not Kyrie. Never Kyrie.
Of course Rozier and Hayward. Good players either way but mainly not headcases.
So many years and people still get fooled by Kyrie's talents.
Whoever trades for Kyrie, deserves to be dammed for years.

They definitely get a "no brainer" in Kyrie.

In AD and Lebron you already have guys who miss a chunk of the season why add another.

why would the Clippers do such a trade? LeBron has only one more year left on his contract and is 8 years older than Kawhi.

Kyrie is unreliable. Hayward is unreliable. It shouldn't be this way but Rozier is the most desirable player here imo and would help the Lakers quite a bit.

Funny thing is it wouldn’t matter at all. Lakers are done as a contender for a while

Normally I would say avoid Irving at all costs. But Irving and LeBron have played together before, for three years in fact. It produced results. The chemistry can still be there. And in terms of fit, it's 10x better than what Westbrook provided. The guy is an absolute nut job, but you might as well go for it.

Lol no. Kyrie is only better at Curry at iso scoring, and even then, the difference between Kyrie's impact from his marginally better iso scoring and Curry's impact from his top 3-all time off-ball scoring more than off-sets it.

If I'm the Lakers, I trade LeBron and AD for picks/youth. I really, really wish they would do this.

But I'm not the Lakers and I think they stay with LeBron and AD.. and If you're sticking with LeBron and AD, I go all in for Kyrie. I don't know how you get that done though.

Lakers don't have the necessary pieces to get Kyrie without moving AD, which doesn't really do anything for them...

Kyrie is toxic, a flake and quitter. Keep him far away from my Lakers please.

Neither are going to happen but if I have the choice.. I'm offended by the question. Kyrie by miles.

Well if the goal is winning you'd take the role players.

Kyrie or no, the Lakers can't compete for a championship unless both Lebron and AD are fully healthy and engaged next season. And if that is the case having a couple of solid complementary pieces to surround them with is a much better fit than Kyrie Irving + more washed up vets playing for the minimum and being defensive liabilities.
