None of my favorites are superstars
"Coach, why don't you just relax? We're not good enough to beat the Lakers. We've had a great year, why don't you just relax and cool down?"

Michael Finley. He was really good in Dallas. In his 9 seasons with Dallas he averaged 20 pts. Was the perfect 3rd piece behind Dirk and Nash.
I would say Rodman, but a lot of folks would say he doesn't count. That's simply because most people learned his name through the news/tabloids for his antics lol.

Charles Oakley by far. Anthony Mason would be a distant 2nd. I also liked the Davis boys in Indiana back in the early-mid '90s. All of them were 1x all-stars, though. If we're talking about players who never made the ASG, I'd go with Stacey Augmon and Loy Vaught. Augmon was a unique player back then. Very strong defender who can play a multitude of positions. He was a great dunker and had a fantastic nickname. As for Vaught, he was unappreciated and overlooked because he was on a garbage team, but he was a hard-nosed player.

Marcus Smart. Though he won DPOY, I don't think anyone will ever consider him a "star." And people may laugh at the report that KD wants to play with Smart, but he's the exact kind of player that every single team would love to have. He plays with heart and grit, isn't afraid to do the dirty work, constantly makes winning plays that either shift momentum or outright wins games, and has good leadership skills.

Tony Battie would probably be in my top ten on-court, and he also saved Paul Pierce's life.

I don't know if winning a DPotY makes him a superstar but Joakim Noah epitomized the guy you love having on your team but hate playing against.

He had a pretty good college career. He was also pretty popular during his college days in the New York area, so it's understandable.
I think every area has those sort of players. I remember back in the 90s and early 2000s, guys like Melvin Levett (who?) and Ruben Patterson had a big fanbase in the Cincinnati area. Kentucky had guys like Ron Mercer, Scott Padgett and Jeff Sheppard (again, who?).

Bulls Ben Gordon was really damn fun to watch. Would've fit perfectly in this era.
