Can’t wait to hear the excuse for why its not Jokic now that the team record argument will be out the picture.

Damn the raptors have had close games but are 1-2. Pascal would be in the conversation early at 27-10 and 7.

Jokic vs Warriors
Luka vs Grizzlies

Probably the two big statement games this year to date

A few plays gone the other way and this was the Tyrese Haliburton award.
Indy was pretty darn close of being 3-0 right now, even though they want to tank.

Carlisle is playing a team consisting almost of players with 3 or less years of experience(sans McConnell and Hield).

Haliburton is averaging 26/4/10/2, 50/41/95 shooting splits in only 31 minutes a game.

I was so close to adding him too & realistically he should be over Embiid but I ended up adding Embiid based on reputation.
I’ve never done this poll but for future reference are you able remove players & add new ones or would you have to start a new poll ?

I don't know if you are familiar, but Jokic won the last two MVPs.

Should have been unanimous the first go around, and the second time people were looking for reasons to give it to anyone but him.

From a market perspective Jokic is not an ideal MVP, so the strongest arguments against him has always been team record. Jokic will be Jokic again except this time the Nuggets should actually be really good.

The media will always disrespect small market stars to an extent, but ultimately, almost always, the player that deserves to win MVP does, hence Jokic winning the last two years. Winning three in a row is incredibly difficult though, and that doesn't just apply to less marketable stars, it literally has affected LeBron and MJ, the two GOATs.

It'd be hilarious to see Jokic win MVP again.

Heads would explode.

Is it too late to throw Luke Kennard in this discussion?

No Devin Booker option again? We really going to make this mistake two years in a row? I mean, he finished 4th in media voting last year, this is embarrassing

I would have given him his 3rd one already just for that full court pass, just on another level..:)

I mean the Warriors got all the way back from 20 down, Denver up by 1 with 14 sec but a realistic chance of starting this season in an early 0-2 hole...
If any1 else makes that pass it's super stupid, just think of what happens if he overshoots , or it isn't caught and it's a T.o and second str8 turnover

just mind bogglingly amazing :)

It'll be fun to see if any of the surprises of the season so far like Haliburton, Markkanen and Valanciunas can keep their name in the mix. On the other hand I hope Embiid can turn his not so great start around as this season looks like maybe his best chance to get the award with the old stars not playing as hard in the regular season and the young guys still establishing themselves as MVP-level stars with the possible voter fatigue for Giannis and Jokic.

Bear in mind that Curry was the near unanimous MVP in the 2nd unofficial straw poll in mid January last season (the highest percentage any player had received in the 5 years or so they have run it). He did not finish in the top 5.

It’s always a fun debate in the NBA, but absolutely nothing that has occurred to this point matters.

They stopped giving the award to LeBron when he was still in his prime. Curry won’t get it, particularly if GSW are to be any chance in the play-offs, they will load manage him which is basically what happened last season even if it wasn’t deliberate.

Giannis is the best combination of a physical freak and basketball talent but as a pure basketball talent, Luka absolutely trumps Giannis.

We have seen past two season already many players who had excellent parts of season, but at end thing that separate Jokic from rest is consistency.
If there is no dumb things like number of MVP awards as obstacle i expect him to win one more

This will never be not weird as a basketball take. It's the **** pinnacle of human freak sports and people wanna let you know the less freak guy would be better if he was a bit more of a freak. Michael Jordan would be just another all star if he was Chris Paul sized. Who gives a flying ****?
