I mean they didn't even make it to the WCF last season so I don't know how they got it in their heads that they were a dominant team. They kind of remind me of the prime Wall/Beal Wizards who were annual second round outs and insisted they were the favorites in the East.

I don't know that I ever considered them dominant...

I know they have had injuries, but something still feels off in terms of the way they were beating competition last year.

Simple, they are unprofessional on and off the court. Ja's attitude in general is super clown. "We good in the West". He's not as crazy as Kyrie, but he's sure a clown. His friends and family causing problems on and off the court at games. Dillon Brookes is a super clown, and this has nothing to do with his atrocious hair, just his trash attitude in general.

Second, West got stronger. SUNS, PELICANS, NUGGETS, LAKERS all are stronger since last year. Grizz aren't winning a title this year, not unless their players mature overnight.

Absolutely agree. Bad attitude/arrogance goes a long way in the function or dysfunction of a team in sport.

I've heard it through the grapevine..NBA gods have already designated Los Angeles LAKERS as NBA Champions in near future. The destiny is real. TRUST ME.

Remember they likened themselves to Death Row Records. So the arena used to play music from those artists during their home games .... well, til they'd get eliminated in the 1st or 2nd round of course.

They havent won anything yet but act like they have. I blame Morant. I dont think he is a leader. He seems to worry more about his game than the teams success.

They were looking good until Adams went down. They haven't felt like a serious threat at any point, but they were fine before the injury. Losing Anderson and Melton was huge too. Morant having a low-key rough year doesn't help either. It's tough to go far these days when your lead guy doesn't even score on league-average efficiency.

Kyle Anderson was a big part of what they did, play-making forward who was able to back up Jaren whenever he got in foul trouble; that insurance is no longer there and with Bane and Brooks it's give and take.

Lost Melton/Anderson

Bane missing time, Who is also carrying an injury which will effect him until the off-season

Losing Adams leans on a guy like Clarke who I rate, but doesnt do the dirty work as good as Adams, Brooks gets to shoot more, I think they are just in a good old fashion funk without Adams

They are pretenders acting tough. I don't even think they are dominant last year, they almost lose to Wolves in the 1st Round. Jazz was 1st seed before and I also don't think they are dominant, look what hapoen to that core now.

Ja jjj and brooks are all disappointing offensively. Adam’s has been hurt, and he’s loaner their 3rd most important player. I will date any grizzlies fans to make an argument that they haven’t been a bottom 5-7 half court offence

injuries to their core guys, no Adams who people don't realize is super important for the Grizz. They will pick it up after the All Star break.

Pretty much all this. When you are not a great shooting team you need to rebound the ball well offensively, the best in the business at that is injured right now.
Ja needs to add a 3 pt shot to take his game to the next level. I love watching him, but hes got Derrick Rose written all over him. His game just isnt sustainable.

Lol at all this people taking shots at the Grizzlies I didn't see them when they won 11 straight just a few weeks ago.

Injurys to key players are the issue especially to Bane and Adams every team has its ups and downs but for some reason people are out like sharks when comes the grizzlies.

The hate is real and I love it.

Morant did not back up his talk. Plus at least 5 teams are considered contenders over them.

That’s because it’s just a whole team of Patrick Beverleys. Lots of words that don’t mean ****!

But in all seriousness, I wouldn’t want Dillon Brooks touching my team. If you’re letting that guy chuck it up 20x/game because his “dog” mentality, then something is wrong here

Also, Steven Adams has been hurt who helps out ja & the other guards create offense with his big screens and his ability to pass & Oboard

I think all of this is the answer. Melton and Anderson are not stars but are good two-way NBA players that made them deep and tough to play.

All of this, and I will keep repeating this, a team takes it's identity from its leader. If the leader acts one way the team will act in that same way. If Ja wants to be the leader he has to set the example, setting the example is the hardest thing to do.....
I'm so tired of the typical......

They're a weird team this year. They crushed the Bucks by 40 points (Giannis played in that game), and were on an 11-game winning streak at one point... but now they're 3-9 in their last 12. They've flashed their potential and you just feel that they can go on one of those big runs.

It's basically a combination of what everyone in here is talking about. Adams is very important for the team, injuries, and immaturity. Also their iso ball players outside of Morant are garbage. Please stop letting Dillon Brooks have possessions where he has to create his own shot.
