Why? he didn't kill anybody. Yeah, a grown man impregnating a young girl is never good, but when it comes down to it he's owned up to his mistake and made things right with the son that came from that mistake.

That really should be the end of it as far as us fans discussing basketball online are concerned, but nah because everyone on the internet feels "entitled" to hang on to hate over things that has nothing to do with them. With that being said, I hope to see more of Karl Malone. Like it or not he's still the greatest player in Utah Jazz history along with John Stockton. So he should get to be up there with the legends just like the rest of those legends.

Dude, he raped a 12 year old girl.

What is wrong with you?

Pretty sure everything I had to say about it is right there in the post you just quoted. can't understand it? that's your problem. Can't wait to see more Karl Malone at NBA events. Hate on.

The cancel crowd is too funny. If Malone asks me for directions to the supermarket, I tell him where it is that means I SUPPORT child rape.

Seriously, where does it end. We can have a discussion about whether Malone should be judging a dunk contest but we're not going to have a constructive one if any time someone says something for Malone that means he supports raping kids.

i've wondered this myself. my thought is that it happened so long ago and has been known for so long that it's just background noise to most people. this happened 40 years ago and has been public knowledge for 25 years. since malone has long been 'accepted' by the nba community, perhaps it's just difficult to go back and readjudicate.

Benoit was tragicly destroyed by his profession. It would be some 1984 ****, if the WWE tried to ignore him after that, which wouldn't surprise me if it was what they're doing.

I hear you dude.

I mean, who hasn't impregnated a small child as a grown adult, denied it, been a deadbeat despite being rich as hell for the kid's whole life and then never done anything to make it right while facing no consequences at all?

We've all been there amirite? Let he who is not a deadbeat, unrepentant, paedophile cast the first stone I say.

We'll see who's left once all these pious conditions are met, right bro?

Dude isn't running for Jesus, he just wants to be a legend despite the fact only in certain churches and apparently the NBA, he could get away with this ****.

Judge not and what not eh?

Internet wokeness!

How often do you invite child rapists to things?

Have a think about your answer and you might just understand where regular people perspectives are at on this.

What Karl Malone did was 100% wrong but he never RAPED anyone.

Let me introduce you to a little term called "age of consent"

I'm shocked people are really defending him in this thread. On top of getting a 12 year old girl pregnant, he refused to claim paternity (got dragged to court to own up financially), then told his son it's too late to be a father to him when he met him later on.

I'm not perfect, nobody is, but Karl Malone is a complete and total POS. Let me also remind everyone that he made a pass at Kobe's wife.

I'm not sitting there condemning LeBron or Kareem for not making a scene and shaking his hand, but the NBA should not associate itself with Karl in an way.

If you think that i wanted to "defend" Malone you very well might be stupid.

Wasn't referring to you specifically, but this is ironic considering what you just said.

This dude said he didn’t kill anyone. Like somehow rape is lesser (and honestly rape can be seen as the worst to a child). But hey it’s ok he admitted to the MISTAKE and he scored 32K points for the Jazz so it’s all cool…no prison or anything, but it’s all good now we celebrate him since he admitted to his simple mistake

It's pretty abhorrent that the NBA honored him and involved him so much, as surely they know all of this information.

I love basketball but seeing something like this makes me question my fandom and ever willingly giving another cent to the NBA.

Those above trying to defend him have clearly never had children themselves.

Yeah he did.

Learn what consent laws are and how they work.

styLesdavis wrote:If you think that i wanted to "defend" Malone you very well might be stupid.

I wouldn't be calling someone stupid after you just demonstrated that you don't know how consent laws work.

OdomFan wrote:Pretty sure everything I had to say about it is right there in the post you just quoted. can't understand it? that's your problem. Can't wait to see more Karl Malone at NBA events. Hate on.

The very first thing you say on the matter is "it's not like he killed anyone". You have to be a pretty morally corrupt person to operate under that mindset, like there's a tier list we should be going off of to give the appropriate reaction. Do you understand what a 12 year old looks like? How they act? How they think? A 20 year old Karl Malone thought that was attractive and had sex with it. The very thought of that should disturb you to no end, but you're attempting to brush it off like it's no big deal. I can't even begin to fathom that mindset. And to top it off, you just to justify it by claiming he made things right? What, by waiting until the kid was a full grown adult already to finally start acknowledging him? THAT'S your idea of making things right?

So again, I ask: what the hell is wrong with you?

What the hell is Silver doing here? Not involving Malone in the activities is such a no brainer. I just don't understand it.

Why open another thread on the same topic that was previously locked? Posing an open-ended question in the OP invites similar responses and replies as those observed in the previous thread that will ultimately cause this thread to be closed as well. You made your viewpoint known in the last thread, so what's different here?

I'll give this thread a chance, but based on the responses thus far, the discussion will devolve into another flame war.

I’m not pure. I just haven’t raped a 12 year old and left her holding the bag with the incredible responsibility of raising a child while I went off and made millions, denying her child support.

Some people deserve to get cancelled. Stop whining.

People Nowerdays get cancelled for far less than that. Usually they get cancelled for just words. WORDS. Not actions. This was a brutal act that he committed. Surprised it flew under the radar even for back then it's bad.

This thread is, despite being up against some stiff competition, the worst thing I have ever had the misfortune to read on this site.
I'm all in favor of differing opinions on subjects, but a 20 year old having sex with a 12 year old is rape, no two ways about it.
That is indefensible, and to attempt to justify or excuse it is pretty reprehensible in my opinion.
