i've wondered this myself. my thought is that it happened so long ago and has been known for so long that it's just background noise to most people. this happened 40 years ago and has been public knowledge for 25 years. since malone has long been 'accepted' by the nba community, perhaps it's just difficult to go back and readjudicate.

The very first thing you say on the matter is "it's not like he killed anyone". Silver gets a lot of flak for his decision making around here. This may be his most baffling decision. Karl got honored multiple times during the all-star weekend. He was out there with Kareem and LeBron. He won Legend of the Year at the NBA brunch.

This thread is, despite being up against some stiff competition, the worst thing I have ever had the misfortune to read on this site.
I'm all in favor of differing opinions on subjects, but a 20 year old having sex with a 12 year old is rape, no two ways about it.
That is indefensible, and to attempt to justify or excuse it is pretty reprehensible in my opinion.
