Without missed games it’s Giannis. But he missed too many games already.
He didn’t miss a lot during the long win streak. I had a feeling he was aiming for MVP with less load managing than usual. But now it’s health above all again, so he’s out of the MVP race.

They have both missed too many games for MVP.

Yet the betting odds for Embiid continue to go down.

Lol unfortunately the experts disagree...

Also some people on here don't read the OP where this is only about Embiid and Giannis.

I don't listen to people yelling at eachother, It's what I believe watching all 4 players play at least 40 games this season

Giannis then.

When you're a 65% ft shooter yes. Jokic efficiency not as impressive at lower volume. Also, stop following me around, you're obsessed. No one is bringing this up but you. This is about Giannis and Embiid, your boy isn't being discussed.

Averaging 33.4 ppg on 64 TS is unheard of.

You are right this has nothing to do with Jokic. This is about you. How you try to twist things and discount stats to fit your narrative. All I am pointing out. You don’t argue in good faith.

In his defense: he did not create this thread and poll. So the same (or more) can be said about you...

Lol I'm not twisting anything. In the MVP thread I shared an article that shows how advanced stats need to be taken with a huge grain of salt. A post that has a bunch of likes.

I’m taking Embiid. He has to overcome Doc’s coaching.

You forgot about Dame, he is averaging 32.1 PPG and is 64.8% TS this season, his season is very underrated too.

I think this season you have to take Embiid between the two, this year there is a clear gap in efficiency, unlike in previous years. MVP is a RS award, and Giannis has been a bit worse compared to previous seasons, you can check many stats to assess this, this is not discussing who you would take in playoffs of course.
Games played doesn't matter here, the difference between the two is too small.

Jables wrote:I don't even get the argument for Embiid ahead of Jokic. Worse record with Harden and Maxey. Embiid has no case.

If you aren't really in the discussion, you aren't on Giannis's level. People are full of it IMO and it's because they feel like Embiid deserves his turn when he's done nothing to earn it.

I don’t get the argument for Embiid over Jokic either, but I still think he should be ahead of Giannis for second:

DPM: Jokic +6.5, Embiid +5.9, Giannis +5.8
EPM: Jokic +8.0, Embiid +7.1, Giannis +6.3
LEBRON WAR: Jokic 12.4, Embiid 8.6, Giannis 8.4
RAPTOR: Jokic +14.4, Embiid +7.7, Giannis +6.1
BPM: Jokic +12.9, Embiid +8.5, Giannis +8.1
PER: Jokic 31.4, Embiid 30.9, Giannis 28.4
On/off: Jokic +23.5, Embiid +8.0, Giannis +6.5
NetRtg: Jokic +12.7, Embiid +8.0, Giannis +7.2
GP: Jokic 59, Embiid 53, Giannis 52

Every single metric you look at, Embiid is ahead of Giannis. If it was just a few there could be an argument, but I think it’s pretty obvious that Embiid has had a better season. The numbers don’t lie. He earned that 3rd straight runner up for MVP.

Honestly I think Tatum vs. Giannis for 3rd is probably a more interesting conversation. Embiid is pretty locked in at second for me.

Because Embiid is playing with another top 15 to 20 player in Harden.... and Giannis has the Bucks with the best record in the league all while missing his other all-star (Middleton) for most of the season... the most VALUABLE player to their team between the two is most like Giannis.

Embiid is very clearly the better offensive player and is having a historic year scoring, but I think Giannis adds more to the team that is around him than Embiid adds to the team around him as far as how bad the team would be without them.... in part because Embiid has another star player in Harden who can take over a game offensively.

For MVP rankings, I have Embiid ahead of Giannis.
