Im curious because you always trash Jordan on here but what year did you start watching the nba?

Considering he was there when kids in the sandlot were talking about Babe Ruth im guessing....A lot longer than you.

I have a hard time believing curry isn't a top 10 player. Not really sure what more he has to do.

I've never trashed Jordan. In my opinion the worst you could rank him is three but I think he's still the GOAT. What I've never been able to stand is his cult tearing other people down to make him look better and its been going on for a long time. I also can't stand the unquantifible things like "heart of a champion" being used all the time.

Wont argue with there being a Jordan cult on here but i tend to see more of a James cult on here than anything. Just this week there was a “when did James pass Duncan on the alltime list” and a “when did James pass Kobe on the alltime list.” Seems to me there is more of a lebron james groupie thing on here.

It's LeBron for me, but you can't say that around here anymore especially ever since he broke the all time scoring record. Great great great player, don't get me wrong, outstanding longevity. I just don't view him as a lock at #2. Top 6? Absolutely.

As for those people negging older guys like Magic and Bird for a lack of longevity, how do you think LeBron would have held up in the 80s when there was no load management culture? When guys couldn't afford to spend 2 million dollars a year on their bodies? When the supplements industry was not as widespread throughout the NBA? I bet you he wouldn't have played for 20 seasons and if by some miracle he did, I doubt he'd be playing the way he is today.

If Russell is 4th here as the least talented player in the weakest era, the answer is right there

I still marvel at how high people are on Magic. When Magic was clearly in charge of his team which was a superteam of his era he barely won over the upstart Bad Boy Pistons and never conclusively proved his Lakers were better. Now the Pistons were a great team but given the results how can one say Magic is much better than Isiah Thomas?

Idk if Hakeem is top 10

On talent I’d put KD in the mix or just right outside the top 10. He’s just never won it all without GSW so that holds him back fair or unfair

You clearly never once watched Magic Johnson play in a single NBA game. You have literally no idea what you're talking about.

That’s like saying,

“Given the results, how can one say Kobe is much better than Chauncey Billups?”

“Given the results, how can one say Shaq is much better than Luol Deng?”

“Given the results, how can one say Lebron is much better than Devin Booker?”

“Given the results, how can one say Duncan is much better than Zach Randolph?”

Isiah Thomas is probably the most overrated player in NBA history.

1989 playoffs:

Isiah: 18, 8, and 4, 48.1 TS%, 18.6 PER
Magic: 18, 12, and 6, 62.5 TS%, 26.9 PER

I think that Magic and Bird should be in the top 10, but they sometimes feel “overrated”, because they were the best in an era. I think that they can potentially fall off the top 10 rather soon and some people seem to see them as untouchables. Both of them have poor longevity and both of them didn’t peak higher than a guy like Curry in my opinion. They probably didn’t peak higher than Durant. And not higher than Giannis or Jokic (at least RS) Is their peak form for sure top 10 peak of all time? Because the longevity is certainly not top 10.

People have a tendency to give Magic a top 5 spot by default and have Bird soon after and it sometimes feel like it’s also about their aura, their rivalry and what they did for the sport.

Yeah this is how I approached it too. It’s a little less prominent now, but the number of times I saw Magic in 4 (often with Kobe at 5 fwiw) really blew my mind. I think Magic v Bird is an interesting debate, because as good as McHale is, he’s certainly no Kareem, yet there wasn’t a huge chasm between the accolades of Bird and Magic.

I think Magic should be closer to the end of the top 10, where Bird is usually placed.

Magic has more accolades than Bird based off of what happened from 1987-1991, when Kareem was 39, 40, and retired.

I think Russell is the most overrated because of the very skewed 13 rings. Ya'll really think Russell would have won a ring on a team other than the Celtics?
