Wrong.

Horford hits Jimmy in the head at 0:03 and messes him up. Foul on Horford either way.

Which would be a two shot foul

by gross do you mean the correct call under current NBA rules? You can get mad that he didn't throw it on purpose and that he was doing a normal basketball move, but if you go up for a shot and hit a defender who is straight up and down with an elbow, it's always called offensive foul in NBA.

On the white no call, he rinds down, stops, and jumps straight up. I guess we weren't paying attention to the rule of vertically that was super popular back with the pacers and that tall stuff at center in playoffs.

Disagree, White is moving with him and stops with his chin in Butlers way while he enters his shooting motion. That's foul baiting, not defense. Luckily for White this 2023 not 1993 or he'd be out with concussion

I've heard a lot of people say that was a double dribble (I live in Boston area, lol) but was it really?
Looks to me like he just lost control of the ball as he tried to gather, then picked it up again. By rule, that's not a double dribble. Am I missing something?
Also, Horford hit him on the head.
You can argue the shooting foul after he hit on the head, but even then Horford's arms weren't straight up. If your arms are down and the offensive player goes up and into you, that's been a foul in the NBA for some time.
I dont like it, but it's how it's consistently called, and we even saw that call in this same game go the Celtics way.
Also from the other angle you can see Horford had his right hand on Jimmy's back too.
It was just really stunningly bad defense from Horford there, and he's one of my favorite players in this series.
What the heck was Boston even doing leaving him on an island against Butler in that situation?

Either way, foul on Horford.

Now let's get back to the horrid officiating against Miami. The NBA is easily the worst officiated sport in the entire world. There's a reason everyone is calling it the WWE now. This is a joke.

Wonder why the guy who started the thread didn't use that one in his initial post?

He should have because Butler got fouled like 5 times.
The right arm holding him back, the hit on the head, the body bump on the shot, the swipe down with the arm. He also didn’t lean in to Horford who was on his left, he leaned forward for a running 3 essentially.

Doesn't matter if it's on accident, if defender doesn't touche ball and you attempt to pick it up and miss and dribble and move again it's a travel

I don’t understand why fans can’t admit that their team is getting major calls for them. I can admit and have admitted when the Heat get calls for them that they shouldn’t have. It’s a real simple thing to do. Saying that it doesn’t happen just discredits you.

So, the play before that when Tatum drove and was grabbed on the dive, got blocked twice and got the heat the ball back down two. Nothing to say on that? Butler took 10 ft within the last two mins, and the fouls called and ft taken were within 2-4 of each other. The refs missed a bunch both ways but didn't cause the heat to lose. That's on the heat. Robinson had two wide open threes and missed the last two mins.

I mean if all you want to talk about is the horrible officiating. Wouldnt the difference between shooting 3 shots and 2 shots with 3 seconds to go in a 2 point game based off of a bad call from the ref, be like exhibit A for your case?

Or do you just want to focus on bad calls that went against Miami? And not actually discuss bad reffing overall?

Also this is what fans of every sport says. If you listen to a Pat McAfee podcast, NFL has the worst refs and its hurting the sport. MLB umps are so bad theyre hurting the sport. Hell MMA and Boxing refs/judges are so bad theyre ruining the sport.

Every fan circle thinks its the worst for their sport and on top of that, they think the team/individual they root for is always on the wrong side of calls. Hell I know many hardcore Duke fans that think Duke gets screwed by bad refs all the time.

Stop acting like a victim and how it's other people's fault and not your teams fault. This isn't kings Lakers.

Refs were really bad last night, I can agree with that. The league has an officiating problem. Their credibility is gone on this topic.

Boston got the benefit of weak/wrong calls initially and then Miami got a free throw parade at the end. Also a stark contrast overall between a 1st half where contact was allowed and a 2nd half where everything got called, first on Miami then on Boston.

I don't think it was clear bias as much as shameful officiating. You could talk me into the possibility of point shaving, because it did seem at the end that the refs made a conscious effort to tighten up the game.

One could argue that they were not going to call the rest of the fouls but they had no choice because Horford swung down and because of Butler’s feet behind the line it was 3 shots. In other words, they may have been trying to ignore the foul until they had their hands forced.

Speaking of missed calls late, Butler clearly fouled Smart when Smart got the rebound after the first missed 3 by Duncan Robinson (1:35 to go). He was blatantly holding Smart's arm and the Celtics were in the bonus then.

Since when?
I see players go up for dunks and use their off arm/hand to clear out defenders all the time.
I've actually seen them accidentally hit the defender in the face trying to clear out, and get rewarded for it with an and-1
I don't think this is called nearly as uniformly as you seem to think it is. In the 80s and previous era, yes, but not in recent years.

it's sports entertainment, yeah. I keep up with storylines and I'll watch parts of games during the playoffs. the NBA isn't real basketball and it's only a matter of time before I tune out completely.

The Celtics have always been a favored franchise in the NBA. The Lakers and Celtics will always get that extra love just based on their storied history. That being said, game 7 will probably be an embarrassment, there's an opportunity to have a team come back from 3-0 and its Boston, I think everyone knows whats gonna happen

It's not the officiating.
It's your team choking a 3-0 lead

But they break and bend the rules even when they review it in instant replay.

Here, Jaylen Brown hooks Caleb Martin and scores. Coach Spo challenges, and after review... refs say challenge successful, but contact is "marginal" and basket still counts. BASKET COUNTS???? NO FOUL ON BROWN??? Per NBA RULES, "This is illegal contact by the offensive player. Players are not permitted to hook their opponents in any way.”

How is the challenge successful for Miami, but basket stilll counts? And this is clear as day hooking and no foul on brown and basket counts? They reviewed this. This is blatant gambling point shaving or something.
