What happens if you put Gilbert Arenas, Brandon Jennings and Rashad McCants in the same room?

Don't give them any attention.

Problem solved.

This is like saying Vince Carter was Lebron before Lebron or Shawn Kemp was Giannis before Giannis.

Just because there are similarities to their games does not make them exactly the same.

Also, Arvydas Sabonis was Jokic before Jokic.

There were others doing it, but either not that size or not all the way out to the 3 line, or not as dangerous as scorers

The problem with these player/analysts is that they value what you be can do periodically and don’t really account for the volume you do it at, or how many times you can do it without messing up, and they love the highlights while ignoring the lowlights.

Jokic isn’t amazing because he made up a new pass or something. He’s amazing because he hits those amazing passes at a frequency that no one else comes close to matching, and he does it without giving the ball to the other team 5 times a game in the process. He’s not amazing because he scores 25 points, he’s amazing because he does it without 25 shots. There isn’t one thing Jokic can do physically or skill wise that Cousins can’t… Cousins just can’t do it as frequently without screwing up.

Highlight reel culture is so prevalent in basketball, and it’s why “experts” can equate two guys that are far apart in terms of impact.

A lot of these shows still have the whole "us vs them" mentality of "we're athletes and you're not" so our take is always going to be the most valuable and one based in fact.

Lol, that's absolutely correct.

My eyes still hurt from having to watch him play basketball 15+ years ago.

Imagine being such a scrub, that one of your carrier highlights is a basic entry pass to Al Jefferson. (0:59)

That video is obviously heavily doctored.

I am 100% certain that Rashad McCants never passed the ball in his NBA career. He was too busy taking bad shots and stealing souls to bother with passing the ball to teammates.

There was a dude who did a Giannis is Kemp thread on the player comp board and got minimal push back!

I think if Cousins was more mentally robust he could have been a bigger deal as a passing hub. He looked amazing on I for those bunch of cameo games for the Bucks.

Any one of them lowers the average iq in any room. All three at once, my goodness.
