One day Marcus Smart will be defensive player of the year, mark my words.

He was actually pretty solid his first two seasons as the backup pg. Then he had to back up all of Smart/Brogdan/White and got his minutes slashed. Prob be a decent backup pg going forward.

Looks okay to me. We will need him this year. Hopefully as a limited minutes backup who can space. Think it would get rough if it's more than that, but I think he's great for that role.

Is there a better value contract in the league right now than Fast PP ?

An absolute lock to win 6 Man of The Year, and a vastly improved defensive and rotation piece that gives Joe Mazz the luxury of giving either of the Jay's a much needed rest/spell on the bench.

His memorable playoff and finals run last season has seemingly being the making of Pritch as a legit and quality and valuable rotation piece for the Celtics.

He is a legit fan favourite now amongst the Boston Brethren and with good reason

I was always a fan, but never really expected this level of consistent product from Pritchard this season.

Brad Stevens easily could have traded/dumped him a couple of Years ago, but being the genius Hoops Savant that he is, backed in PP to evolve into one of the most valuable bench/rotation players in the NBA.

So what do you guys think he would've gotten, if he didn't sign that early extension and hit free agency? He had a really solid season and didn't even miss a game.

Crazy how when this was announced all the “experts” of realgm predicted that this would be a reasonable deal, and it ended up being a reasonable deal.

Ngl to be 5th in 3PTs made averaging 27 min is kinda wild

Pritchard works at his game as much as anyone in the NBA. So glad for him

Right? Seems like as a FA after this season it could have been easily 4/60.
But he would have been FA after last season. So IDK. Seems like 4/50?

It's pretty impressive how he is having a good season after that dreadful performance in the Finals. It felt like the only thing he hit was the end of quarters half court heaves in the Finals. He could play a big role this year in the playoffs as their 6th man guard paired with Holiday and White.

And, to their credit, a lot of posters in this thread correctly predicted it. This is the rare bumped thread where almost nobody (with one notable exception) looks silly in hindsight.

Think you can argue between him and Miles McBride, who gets 13 Million for 3 years on a declining contract, so almost half on average of what Pritchard is getting. But yeah, at this rate I wouldn't be surprised if Pritchard makes an All Star team during that contract.

That is a great deal for the Celtics but settle down with him being an All-Star!

He's under contract for 4 seasons, did improve a lot last season and is taken on a bigger role this season. Jrue is getting up there in age, so it's pretty realistic that he becomes a starter during those 4 years. If he takes another step and Boston continues to dominate in the East it's not unrealistic that he makes an All Star team as Boston's 3rd player. There have been enough cases in the past were players made the All Star game in a similar role. Also I didn't say it will happen, just that I wouldn't be surprised any more at that point ;).
