I had him as my MIP pick this season

He’s probably not good enough to win even though he’s improved an insane amount - like they will give it to Ant or something even though Jalen has improved more and deserves it more

JJ will be a stud though. I wish my Cavs had him.

I wouldn't say severe character issues.

No drugs, arrests or domestic abuse in his past. (That I'm aware of.)

Talented guy who can play some defense as well. Good for the Hawks, but they're still some ways away from their ECF potency.

I think thats whats surprising some Hawks fans the most. He is actually a very good defender and can defend most positions on the floor. I personally still hope we get a elite SF, PF, or C and then can solidify him in a position next to them.

I think he can be a top tier SF or PF in the next few years with his game which to me would allow you to go after a star at multiple positions. If the star is at SF replacing Hunter then he stays at PF. If it's a PF like a Siakam then you move him to SF. If it's at Center like a KAT then you move Onyeka to PF and Jalen to SF. He allows you to do so many things with as versatile and athletic as he is.

Had zero idea who he is but started to disappear in fantasy leagues and in 2-3 games i've watched, impressed with his energy and basketball IQ. He knows how to play.

He's been great, one of the best in-game dunkers. He's everything that the Hawks expected John Collins to be.

Hopefully Jalen's play finally kills off the Siakam to Hawks rumors. Why would you trade for Siakam when Johnson has been cooking this season.

Because you can play Jalen at SF he is more than athletic enough to do it and allows you to move on from Hunter while upgrading the PF and SF position with much better players that can do a bit of everything at a high level.

Lol I like Jalen Johnson but the reason why Siakam keeps being brought up is because the Hawks have been mediocre. If they were winning that wouldn’t be the case.

Yes yes yes.

You Jalen, dislike Trae and don't believe the Hawks will amount to anything. We get it.

NOTE: Raptors have had Siakam for years and have been mediocre since Kawhi moved to California...4+ years ago.

The Raptors were not mediocre in 19/20.

I was screaming for the Knicks to draft this guy and my fellow Knick fans said we don’t need him because we have Obi

I agree with you about Siakam I don’t think he will help the Hawks win but tell that to the Hawks front office. He has been connected to the hawks for two years for now. They seem to like his history as an all-star and believe he could help a team that has stagnated and be a partner for Trae. This is the same thing that has lead to the trade for Murray.

Believe what you want man. I just don’t think Trae is the type of guy you build around as “the guy”. They have changed everything around him to be better but it hasn’t worked. And they will do it again by going after Siakam. Unless the Hawks get a true number one and move Trae as a second option, I don’t see any improvement for the Hawks.

Trae as the 1st option has the hawks a top 5 offense every year. They need a find to way to improve defensively/defensive rebounding not find a #1 option. Also if hawks really wanted Siakam I think he’d be a hawk right now…don’t think he’s the best fit and don’t want to overpay him into his 30s anyway. JJ is the hawks future 4 and he’s fits perfectly with Trae.

A year ago, Hawks Coach Nate McMillan was reluctant to play the kid at all.
